An informal playtest AAR of the VN_660809_LZ_27V scenario. NVA vs. South Korea action!

[NOTE: BETA gameplay and graphics]

A furious NVA night assault at about Turn 2. Assaults are much bloodier in this game!

The South Korean 10th/3rd Motorized Rifle Company (green circles) needs to reinforce LZ 27V (turquoise circle) ASAP. How to get there? In heavily jungled terrain, especially in night scenarios (of which this is one), it can be difficult seeing the roads and paths in all that foliage.

Game play tip: By toggling ON Display > Map Hints, we can see here the PaThs (PT) from here to there. The 10th/3rd eastern force (the M113 ACAVs, right green circle), should they take the PT (Path) to the north, or follow the lead of the infantry to the west (left green circle)? The Map Hints help us to find out.

At around Turn 8, another (third) bloody assault. Things are looking bad for the South Koreans!

The South Korean 11th/3rd Motorized Rifle Company comes to the rescue! Can they save the day (er, night)?

Fortunately for the South Koreans, they have plenty of artillery fire support from LZ 27Y, Duc Co CIDG Camp, and FSB Joan (all far to the northeast).

The NVA fire from hex [12,49] (green circle). But due to the fire reveal modifier, the firing units don't reveal themselves. The South Koreans are unable to return fire back!

At Turn 11, the SK 11th/3rd Motorized Rifles overwhelm their NVA foe! It looks like LZ 27V will be saved!

Late in the game, the Allied artillery is blocked from firing because the ammo is running low. See the Arty Ammo indicator (yellow rectangle) in the HexInfo Box. Initially at 95, now at 73, the Arty Ammo has been decreasing by 2 every turn.

On the very last turn, Turn 15, the NVA make one, final desperate assault at LZ 27V. They fail! The SK defense holds!

At scenario's end, the butcher's bill. Note where the NVA destroyed all five of the defender's M48A3 Pattons.
