I played and enjoyed FITE 5.0, not for the feint of heart, long and exhausting as the East Front was. It's also a regimental level scenario. Additionally, you may want to try the updated version FITE 2, in TOAW IV, I'm looking forward to that one.

B41 is 1941 only, TGW is the 1941-45 version of B41.

D21 is not PBEM, RGW is the PBEM version of D21.

FitE 5.0 is fine.

FWIW, I am playing Soviets in RGW against German PO, jmho but the Soviet OOB and reconstruction / reinforcement routine is a bit frustrating (to me) ... and would be doubly frustrating (I think) in PBEM against a human opponent.

I played Germans v. Soviet PO in RGW, and surrendered around turn 200.

Of them all, I prefer FitE1 v.5 for PBEM.

More than 'a bit' I would say, but until we get a design choice to not divide units there is nothing that can be done. When I played RGW as the Soviets I left all the bits where they reconstituted until all three parts and surplus rail cap was available.

Same here, I am on Russians around late Summer 1942 against German PO, and have decided to let those bits appear and then rail them to a common point to recombine. Lately, I have just been saying, "Get to Moscow" ... so I rail the bits to Moscow, then look at them again. The reconstitute point around Archangelsk is problematic, I think, b/c they have to march to a rail head. Frustrating with units that appear there around Archangelsk.

What I would most like to see, is the air units in their own formations. Several Soviet air are found as part of ground formations, and I see the logic behind that decision ... but still, if they were "separated" would it not free up units in ground formation, for sub-divisions (if that were wanted)?

not sure, but i do think that Soviet air should be in their own formations, and not tied to their ground formations.

Just a thought, from a casual player!

Alternatively, you can ship them to a rail head. Less wear & tear and is faster

If you want to play "help" in a Russian Campaign, then I would either suggest playing the Russkies in 1941 or the Germans in 1944-1945, both of which will make you say "help".

Hope this was helpful as far as playing help.

There is no "shipping" from that reconstitute point.

They have to march there ass to the rail ... a good 100+ kilometers through the woods.

There should be. Archangelsk is a port city.

Sorry, was unclear, the reconstitute point I mention is not "on" Archangelsk, but is back in the forest a few hundred KM away from ATown. Design noted (in another thread) that it was like that to "governor" PO a bit, and suggested a revision for Human player .... am marching down the road, in mean time!

FWIW, in RGW (playing Soviets against German PO), I am finding now that there was a "Barrage" of reinforce for a while re: soviets, but now (around Fall 1942) the deluge of reinforcements for Soviets has slowed considerably ... so now, I am not "deluged" any more, I am more easily handling the forces re-up.

Unfortunately, for Elmer, that seems to be giving him time to regroup. Fun scene! You just have to get through the nuances and into 1942 to really feel the power.
