@Soviets turn 218 (July 21, 1943)

The NW Front continues its slog westward,
and finally crosses the Vistula!

The Red Banner Fleet now controls the Bay of Gdansk,
and Red Army "Avengers" take control of the city of Danzig,
looting, pillaging, murdering all Germans,
in reprisal for the destruction of Kiev!

The same fate awaits Berlin!!

Looks like there are very few German units around in that sector.

Sorry, is misleading b/c Fog of War is "On" there,

is probably lots more Germans back there ... will grab a screen w/ Fog "off"
...is below, you'right, Elmer is pretty thin west of the Vistula,
but Sovs are hard pressed to get all the way across....

only one bridgehead at the moment, need at least the other bridge,
that is NW of Warsaw, so most soviest bottled up still by the river, it is hard to cross.

and Germans still holding that Neman River pocket as was shown a few screens ago.

@Soviet turn 229 (August 29, 1943)

Warsaw liberated! There are now three bridgeheads over the Vistula,
two at Warsaw and one at Danzig,
and a solid RR clickety-clacks all the way from Tula into Allenstein, Germany.

Italians are now kaputski (Soviets occupy Treiste!)
Hitler stands alone, cowering somewhere at the prospect of being captured.

Nothing can stop the Red Colossus now.
Every Soviet troop that can reach a train into Tula,
is sent immediately to Allenstein, with fresh supplies and Vodka!
German civilians ... and Wehrmacht disguised as civilians ...
flee West in terror!

It won't be much longer now,
until the Hammer and Sickle flies proudly in Berlin!

@Soviets turn 257 (Dec. 5, 1943)

Soviets approach the last natural barrier, the Oder River,
before the Battle of Berlin (which is a foregone conclusion)

The last month or so (real time) I have only moved this area,
ignoring the rest of the map (except to rail up artillery and anti-tank)
and to capture Vienna. Trying to get this one over ....

The Germans / Elmers simply can't put up any resistance.
Berlin has the points to push it over an overwhelming Soviet victory
(is still only marginal, need to get the 650 or so points at the Oder
to push "significant" ... once I get the "overwhelming" I will "end scenario"
for the splash screen.

A pretty fun scene, took me four? or five? months to get this far,
but it has become something of a chore now.

A better player than me would have taken Berlin by now, I think,
but I pretty much just had fun with it, not really "serious" play.
I think it might be improved with some tweaks to Soviet OOB and reinforce / replace better placed,
along with beefing up Elmer's Germans more. But still fun to mess around with it.

Okay, well, let's see if I can get to Berlin in the next ...
I think I should be able to capture "Elmer Schicklegruber" in less than 30 more moves.
Cheers!

It seemed that with so little (relatively) progress in 1941, Elmer was doomed early and couldn't cope with the Soviet Steamroller due to probably not having encircled+destroyed enough units during Barbarossa.

Soviets turn 265 (January 2, 1944)

The SS 3rd Panzer Division appears in Berlin!
Prepared, no doubt, to fight to the death.

But their cause is surely a lost one ....

Seven Soviet Anti-Tank Brigades fire at will!!
Supported, of course, by various ad hoc inf. / tank units.

Berlin will soon be competeley surrounded!
PS I never knew one could zoom in this tight ....

SOVIET VICTORY!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ogwwd1UHZo

@Soviet turn 267, January 9, 1944:

HITLER IS DEAD!!!!
Facing annihiliation by the Soviet juggernaut,
with their beloved Feuhrer dead by his own hand,
the German High Command surrenders,
and turns Hitler's remaining Henchmen over to the Soviets to stand trial for their war crimes.

The Motherland Rejoices, but tempers its joy with the thought of hard years of rebuilding ahead.

Millions of German soldiers prepare for another long march East ....
this time, to prison camps in Siberia!
