Loved playing that game. Don't have the room now. I also still have SPI Wellington's Victory. Another fun one to play.

In 1975 I was still painting Airfix Waterloo soldiers

I liked their WW2 soldiers. Was a bit irritated the American soldiers set had the troops firing an M1919A6 (Browning on a bipod) ... and not a guy with a BAR or proper medium machine gun team with the .30 on a tripod.

One neat use for sites like Airfix and other modeling firms is to check out their information on uniforms. Makes for good suggestions for very exact colors to use to color the counters in TOAW. Sort of a way of subtly weaving the fun times of those decades past with PC software.

Cheers

I still have these Airfix soldiers (napoleonic and WW2) in 2 big cigar boxes somewhere. That's about 45 years ago.
I loved the WW2 Afrika forces. I still have an Airfix Sdkfz222.

Love the pic, are those maps laminated?

But that red Solo cup on the board gives me the heebie-jeebies,
hope that sucker doesn't tip over!

Looks like plastic sheets held in place by large clips.

I would cut plastic sheets into a size that would accommodate a map. Then if there were four maps they would all fit together nicely. For games with more than four maps it would sometimes be necessary to custom cut a plastic sheep for each map. I then cut 1/8" masonite board the same size as the plastic sheets. The maps would fit between the plastic and the masonite. To hold the plastic and masonite together I would use strips of plastic that is used to hold cheap wall paneling together. This was so I could slide the map portions into a cabinet I built that could hold up to 20 separate map sections complete with deployed counters. So I could have several games going at once and simply pull out the one I wanted and piece it together on the table. Ah, those were the days.

I also built a room in the basement specifically designed for war gaming.
