After seeing the suggestions from TexasHawk regarding map filters,, it got me thinking about the message log and a better way to lay out the data.

In CMANO we got a running log of data as it came in. You could export it to a separate window but there wasn't much in the way of filtering or collating the data. Probably the biggest bummer was you couldn't click the log and get any idea of where it happened.

CMO gives us a vertical display of our information.

If we click on a category it expands and displays some information, potentially obscuring the tabs below, especially if you get a bunch of information coming in.

Then we have to click on the + sign even one more step to drill down the data even further.

Now the awesome part is being able to see where it happened, can't over state this enough.

My issue is the vertical display of information that obscures incoming data. My suggestion is to use a tabular display instead of a vertical display.

Have each category with a tab, either always present or generated when a new piece of information is introduced. Displayed next to the type is the quantity of new data changes. Once you select that category the quantity would reset to zero. Maybe highlight background a different color to show what is selected, I used the yellow line as an easy to see graphic.

I think this will do a lot to help with the information overload by containerizing the data and instead of a firehose you get a bucket.

Clever, I like it! Only issue is horizontal space, so might have to use abbreviations for categories or scrollable window.
