See the pix.

The game lists 10kT AND 5kT for the yield of the subroc nuclear warhead. I -think- it should be 10kT. I don't know what the game is using.

Ken,

It looks like you are using DB3K_467, a very old database (March 2017). As you can see, if you upgrade to the current database, DB3K_482, then the correct warhead is in place.

I have NO idea why I don't have a current database.

Thanks for noticing.

I let steam do my CMO updating. How do I get steam to update the game database???

(I'm happy to manually download the latest database, but I cannot find a link. I know there's a page out there...)

Ken,

Any scenario will run in the DB it was created in if it has never been updated. You can easily do it yourself.

1. Start the game in Editor mode - "Edit Scenario" and load the scenario you want.
2. On the menu bar Select "Editor".
3. Select "Database".
4. Select "Upgrade scenario to latest DB version.

That will upgrade you to DB3K_482 but only for that scenario. You should probably do it for any scenario you want to run.

Thanks.

I'd totally forgotten about that.

Off to update all the scenarios. (Yeah, I know: that may "break" some. Shrug.)

Glad to have helped.

Be aware that scenarios updated with an *.ini file will update with empty magazines and all modifications to ships omitted. Always a good plan to create a Delta.ini file and THEN do your DB upgrade.

I have a vague understanding of what that means, but I do not understand what that means as far as what specific steps that I, a player, would take when clicking on the various buttons.

Can you give an example/run-through of each?

Thanks.

Sections 5-6 and 8-8 of the CMO Manual explain Scenario Batch Rebuilding (SBR) files and rebuilding scenarios far better than I ever could.

I've read it, and frankly, the batch file example leaves me totally confused.
I also found some scenarios of mine with ini files with the same name. I have no idea what I do with those ini files. Did the SBR create them? Do I use them? Are they leftovers and only used if I want to go back?

I've read those sections, I've had it open on one screen while trying to follow it in-game. It didn't work for me. Not sure what I did wrong or missed.

(As well, I tried a single scenario shallow rebuild. After saying it had been rebuilt, it kept going back to the outdated database.)

I think you have two different threads going about the same process. Again, the manual s a pretty good reference. Make sure you are saving after the rebuild. Also, ini files can get confusing if you don't use a naming convention to keep track of ones where you have made modifications that require a delta file.

Well, as mentioned above, the 5kT vs 10kT discrepancy has already been fixed in DB3K_482. Actually, somewhere between 467 and 482. So that should no longer be an issue.
