Screen Resolution

Post by innerlander »

Hi, I have just bought a new monitor for my Wargaming. Now, when I start up "War in the Pacific", I get a message telling me I need a better screen resolution (1920x1080). Could someone - wiser than me - please tell me how to adjust the screen resolution of my monitor from the "War in the Pacific" program itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, honestly. I love this game.
Thanks in advance, innerlander

Look up the thread that deals with the switches for the game. It explains it there.

Hi again, thanks for the two quick replies. I think the problem lies with me - I am a 73 year old, and NOT a computer whiz. I appreciate your replies, but, I honestly don't know how to implement them. Too Technical for an old war vet. Is there a simpler way to change the screen resolution? Thanks again for the help you gave, innerlander

You will need to learn this in order to take full advantage of the game. The "-archive" switch is essential for some functionality. I'm twice your age in gorn years so don't get smart with me, young whippersnapper. Normally you would want to have a shortcut on your desktop to click on whenever you wanted to fire up the game.

Next, right click on the shortcut you created and click on "Properties". There you will enter your path (in quotations) and add whatever switches you want. Use the path I use that you see in my previous post as a guide. You can use all the same switches I use and you probably won't go wrong. Simply hit Enter when you're done.

None of this is any harder than creating that very nice avatar of yours and posting it to your profile.

The desktop shortcut has to be from the .exe file in the game directory. The desktop shortcut the game puts in is for the game menu and modifying that will not work.

Ex: my game is located on the C: drive
C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition"

I then find the .exe file in that directory
War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe

Right click on War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe - then click "get shortcut"
A new file will appear:
War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe -shortcut

Move: War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe -shortcut
to desktop [cut-paste]

Now you have shortcut on your desktop:
rightclick on that; a new screen appears, at bottom is Properties
right click on properties
a new screen will appear:

modify the: TARGET is should appear something like this "C:\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe"
now add -deepColor -x1920 -y1080 to that line:
line should now look like "C:\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepColor -x1920 -y1080
