I'm playing "Yellow Sea Patrol, 1949". It's got two Fletcher class destroyers going up against some Chicom forces.

I manually targeted some patrol boats and I cannot un-target them. A plane comes by and my primary AAA batteries are still sending 5" shells towards a distant patrol boat.

Also, both destroyers are firing at the SAME Chicom patrol boat. I'd like one of the Destroyers to NOT fire at that boat, but instead fire at a different one.

As well, both destroyers are firing continuously... I'd like just a few shots at a time.

(The destroyers are far outside the patrol boat weapon effectiveness.)

How do I un-target???

Thanks.

In addition...the destroyers (having 5x 5" guns each) fire continuously. The instant a patrol boat sank, I counted EIGHTEEN rounds still in the air going towards its location. (Sum of both destroyers' in-flight shots.)

I'd rather have the destroyers fire a salvo, let it land, assess, then fire again. How do I do that?

From the manual...

Drop Target: This function allows a player to drop one or
more units from its target list. After selecting this function simply
click on the unit you would like to drop or drag select multiples.
Disengage (Drop All Targets): This function drops all
targets from the unit target list and the unit will continue with its
previously assigned mission or plot.

Hotkeys are E and Control+E

I think the WRA settings will let you set salvo size and set target priorities. Again, I am pretty sure its in the manual. There are also ROE settings that play a role here.

To clarify thewood1, these options are also available in the right-click menu. Select your firing unit, right-click and select attack options(?). The choices he mentioned will be in there to drop your targets. Then click on the target you want to drop.

Another way is to use the manual (Shift-F1) attack option. When your weapon selection screen pops up, there will be a lower corner of the screen showing the weapons allocated to each target. You can deselect those individually, or I believe there is a "Deallocate All" button.

Disclaimer: This is how is worked in CMANO. I don't own CMO yet so those processes may have changed.

Yeah, but the manual is nice and searchable so I thought that might be the first resource to use.

It can't be that thing that actually has some of the answers to basic questions can it?

Indeed it is...Unfortunate fact of life that people don't use it more....

THANKS!

Okay, I searched the pdf manual and focused on the "Target" section. That has nothing about the untarget or right-click menu items.

So...I'm not lazy (not that anyone inferred that), just ignorant. ;)

I appreciate the community's help.

Now, I'm going to look at the ROE/WRA and try to figure out how to fire one salvo at a Junk (not sure what that would be in the WRA menu: it's broken down with different terms).

The complexity of this game is part of its attraction. The complexity is also what makes it difficult to work if you're not familiar.
