Should do just fine, I would think. For a off the wall comparison, my new MacBook Pro has a quad core i5, as did my previous, now 5 year (and dead, thanks to my cat) old MacBook. Both ran C:MANO just fine using a virtual machine on Parallels Desktop. That quad core i7 should be slightly better than the quad i5 in my laptop, plus I assume you'd have a separate GPU, while mine is on board.

Well you haven't helped. I have 9 Gigs of memory, not 4 like your cartoon says. Is that system ok or not????

I neglected in mine that my MacBooks have all had 8GB of memory and not all of that gets dedicated to Parallels Desktop and it runs just fine.

Tom,

Hey,it was a joke referencing your cat. Your system should be fine. Sorry if you took offense.

That was my cat.

And I took no offense myself. And the cat is still alive. She's quite a sweetheart really. She operationally tested the magnetic breakaway power connector on the MacBook. Test failed. She got the cord around her leg when she jumped from the table next to me to the floor. The laptop followed her, flying about 4 feet through the air and landing open, upside down on the wood floor. Where the power connecter disconnected. Damaged screen. Time for new MacBook.

Dave,

Really glad to here your cat only injured its dignity. This one likes to help by sorting things - especially screws and wires when I'm working on someone's open PC. Also, papers always need to be put in correct order for me and only she knows what that order should be!

I am more impressed with the antique TI calculator. I had one just like it in 1986.

I use my late Dad's HP15 calculator a lot. Still ticking after all these years. I keep it at home because I'd hate for something to happen to it at work.

I can still feel the heavy pressure and dull click of the key presses.

Looks like a TI-59 - I first learned to program on one of those things in about 1980.

For "Inquiring Minds Who Want to Know"

Used it a lot in the 70's then it went into a box till about 2015. By then the battery was, of course, long gone to battery heaven. Luckily I found a vendor who had one on eBay. I use it daily and it works great!

Now I've not used this since the late 60's (for those of you who know what it is)!

I used the ti-59 in high school and was the talk of my geometry class. our capstone project was to build a slide rule.

Now that's cool. Had to learn something from that! Kind of like delving into assembly language to more greatly appreciate higher level ones.

What I learned from learning PC Assembler was that I never wanted to code in Assembler. Ever. Again.

Assembler was in its element when we only had a few K of memory, so optimising to save individual bytes was pretty important. I once wrote an astronomy program on a 6502 machine and squeezed hundreds of star coordinates into 24 bits each via assembler. 6502 assembler was beautiful, though, unlike the grunts of Z80-8080 and upwards.

Nowadays we have zigabytes of everything, and our source code libraries make 19th Century Russian novels seem like sparse leaflets.
