What does this mean exactly. I really can't decipher what is being said here.

Page 64 of the manual.

quote:

Effectiveness Modifier – The total of supply is discounted by
how high in effectiveness a unit is. The less effectiveness it has, the
more it recovers as part of the full amount. This reflects normal
wear and tear usage of supplies and parts, soldiers getting ill, errors
in logistics.

Perhaps an example might help.

If a unit has 0% effectiveness it recovers 100% of say a 25% recovered or 25%.

If the same unit has 40% effectiveness it recovers 100 - 40% = 60% of the 25% = 15%

Ok got it. So that explains why units at say 90% never seem to get back to 100%. Is that intended?

They get back to 100%. Just don't stick them in the middle of the mountains on a level 1 supply line. That's part of the depth of the game.

Map supply levels matter.

You just made me realize why people aren't getting paras up to 100% and I am. They aren't sitting them on a max supply line.

But your example shows me that to get from 90% to 100% will take a long time.

100-90 x 30% = 3%. So it goes to 93. Next turn 100-93 x 30% = 2.1% So 95% an so on.

But it appears that if you use a truck it adds a flat 6% on to effectiveness. Not 100-90 x 6%

So to sum up, getting from 95% to 100% takes quite a few turns (months), even on a level 9 supply. Is that WAD?

I am not talking about Para's, though it's related. So basically any unit will take months to reach 100% effectiveness unless a truck is used. And that is WAD.

Ok.

#1 define WAD.

#2 Nothing is ever at 100% naturally there is always something breaking. For example I live in a community of some 350 town homes. There is always every day an A/C repair truck out here. Just like in real battles there were always some tanks, some guns in need of repair. Unless you over deliver to them they won't get everything they want.

I dunno, personally don't think it's a big deal if you have to burn a truck to top off a paratrooper, and consider that part of the expense of doing a landing op. It is an extraordinary maneuver that you will not be doing all that often.

They are game changers if you use them in the right occasion, too.

As for units never quite reaching 100% without trucks, meh. The law of diminishing returns, the friction of war, call it what you will, this isn't a big deal and I'm okay with it.

As a practical matter what difference does it make for any non para unit if it is at 95% instead of 100%?

This is why I love the trucks. I use a ton of them. I like it as a nod to logistics without getting too in depth. Simple and easy.

I'm a big believer in building trucks myself, heh.

Panzer chocolate.

WAD = Working as designed.

I am not fazed by this situation. My issue is simply to understand how it works and that it is working as intended.
