EDIT: I changed the title of this thread, from "Air unit distinctions" to "Uxbridge Graphics", since this name no longer reflected the contents.

Let's open up the Mods and scenarios section with a little diversity of air units.

Not just the air units. Land units are pretty too.
Where can I download the mod?

Try taking it down from this link. Put the files in the folder of the game you're presently playing. Only the major powers have been changed properly; neutral air units are differentiated by a dot.

This is no deliberate mod, only things changed to my own liking.

Hi and thanks for the file.
I need some direction on how to use it.
According to the Editor Manual, I have to "drop the file name of the image into the
scenario directory".
The fact is that I don't know where the default scenario directory is nor I could find it on my Warplan folder.
I don't want to create new scenarios each one with his own folder, I just desire to make those icons my standard ones.

I put the wrong file. I'm having trouble finding where the file goes also. I searched it and thought I had the right directory, but it did not work. Hints?

Look at the fourth post on this thread...make sure the file goes into the scenario file that you are playing...Ie., "Europe 1939" etc..

Thanks, useful infos.
I suggest that thread to be sticky, I guess I'm not the only one having this kind of issues.

Ah, sorry for being so vague, Radagy. Does it work now, and do you find the changes useful?

Yes to both questions, absolutely.
I'm now struggling with an update issue, but that's another story and another thread ;-)
Thanks

It gets easier after a while doing it.

Some flags and aircraft nationalities as well.

OT - but ouch, this map really brings out some glaring geography issues in WP...

What issues Simulacr53? I saw one player comment on the distance from Moscow to Polish border.

Euh... Just look at the same area in a "real" map:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/

Just look at Antwerpen and Brussel position between a real map and WP map.
Just look at the distance between Antwerpen and Rotterdam.

The scale is challenging for the smaller countries, we have to accept it, but that does not make it easier on the eye and mind.
Again OT for this thread.
Good work on the mods.

Maybe Rotterdam should have been one hex closer to Amsterdam, but it's not vital and there may be game considerations for creating a space between the two. Mind also that it's the hexes that dictates the location, not the city or port symbols. If you want to seee something odd, though, look at my poor country.

Well no I do not accept it. For a minor country like Germany, having Essen at the same latitude than Amsterdam... Even with a Gall Peter map projection, I have some serious doubts.

We are in 2019. We have all the resources to make serious maps.

Rotterdam in particular is absolutely not in Belgium. The border is misplaced in this case.

Essen should move down a hex, but I think Antwerp and Rotterdam looks fine. Putting the latter further North will only swing the inproper placement the other way, and one will loose the polder-hex between them.

Not for me to decide; it's up to Alvaro.

To return to the original purpose of this thread, does anyone have a list of the nationality for units on the units.png? I don't know but a token of the flags, and in some cases they are difficult to make out. Knowing what row is what country, would be of good assistance.

Oh, thank you – both for telling and posting the list. I saw your original posting of the thread, and have read the last posts in it, but never realized there were two lists in it. Now I can make some changes to units likely to see service in the European theatre.
