Another update is in order. Yesterday 8/19/20 we released v1.23.06 Beta. More bugs are fixed and other improvements made. The game is much more stable now with various movement, combat, and supply issues resolved. Mostly, issues regarding minors, loaned corps, and kingdom units caused the most headaches with this version. We're keeping an eye out for any more reported problems with pbem players being inadvertently switched to AI and any other problems with kingdom units.
Looking ahead, my #1 concern is the 1812 scenario. Player feedback on the setups for France, Great Britain, Russia, and Spain would be helpful, as well as any alternate setups players may wish to provide me for inclusion in the final official comprehensive patch. Since scenario information and data files are involved, these need to be finalized. The idea being that future updates could be as easy as EXE patches without needing Matrix installer packages, as I mentioned previously.
The new AI strategic advances and retreats are working well. But these are only local functions. When I was messing around with updating allocating additional AI units to battles, to consider special units (Guard, Artillery) first, I initially had Napoleon in Poland "advancing" westward. Hmmm? I tracked this down to trying to support a battle in Leon, Spain, against the British. I failed to include a range check, for the units to be in range of the battle to be assigned. But... this introduces an opportunity now for a more grand strategic redeployment function, to move units forward to the front when at war or retreat back to home capital if necessary; otherwise, units can stay in place. This has potential for allies to move forward, such as Russia towards Austria in 1805, etc. Anyways, I am full of new ideas now and will try to implement some more AI enhancements into v1.23.07.
