This looks like a fun scene, something different.

Here is after Axis turn 3; have taken NYC and Boston so far;
working on Philadelphia for next turn.

Thinking that I might work my way down the eastern seaboard.

I don't have the documentation for this scene, and can't seem to find it in the scenarios section.

We are playing it on the Slitherine server thing, but I would like to get the documentation that goes with.

I have the word doc for this, going to try to attach it.

Attached the zip I have it has both the scenario and the word doc but note this is for COW so this scenario should be converted properly (i.e., open up the scenario in TOAW IV editor and save it, 0.21 updates the file header for scenario saved this way).

In the scenario documentation, it is noted that Axis is required to move its units out of staging areas onto the Amerikan Mainland stat ... but I have a full division of German paratroops "stuck" in staging area b/c I have zero air transport. These units do not have the option to board ships. They are stuck.

Does anyone know if I might get air transports in near future so that I can move those paradooks? I think we are on move 9 now, and still no air transport points.

Thanks in advance for your kind help and insight, I could really use those guys, but so far they can only sit there on the airfield.

You guys may want to mod that scenario to give the Axis side some air cap. and do a restart.

Thank you, Larry! We're already on turn 10. I guess I'll just stick it out and see how I can do without those paratroops. The Mexican Army just activated, and by giving aid to the Cossacks I've lowered the chance of Soviet aid to the US. I guess it will even out. Pretty fun scene!

at the end of Axis T16, DC is about to capitulate.

Axis forces are heading west and northwest into the heartland at a good pace.

Maybe I should disband those paratroops that are stuck. At least then I could get their equipment ... right?

Near the end of Axis turn 21 now ... took me four or five turns to finally get Rommel into DC proper.

Trying to do the pincer move as shown...the Appalachian Range is a tough geographical feature to cross.

In South America ... I still have not activated the Brazilians. The Mexican Army is not very strong, but I did manage to destroy a few rail lines in South Texas. Next major goal is Chicago. Need to do that pincer move first though.

@Axis T25 now. Not much progress.
With about 50 moves to go, I'm going to have to gain speed.
Stuck around Washington for too long.

Perhaps it is time to ask for Japanese or Brazilian assistance...
Both choices risk additional Soviet assistance for US

Not doing so well in this one,
US has retaken NYC

Axis is pretty much stalled out
Brazil is no help
Maybe Japan can send help

Me too, even if I do get my arse kicked.

We've been keeping up a good pace of 2-3 turns per week, if not more.

Edit: I have called up the Brazilians and the Japs.

I should have done that earlier.
Right now, SF_slith has me on the ropes.

Cheers!

at turn 50 now, Japanese troops are trying to get onto the mainland

I managed to get most of a division onto the beach and inland a bit,

but the air strikes during hitting my naval movement is shooting my boats to pieces

Axis turn 54, the US has retaken
DC, New York, Philly, etc.

and is pushing the Nazis back into the sea ...
an overwhelming defeat ...

Daaamn.

Yes, that was my sentiment, too.

I thought I was doing ok around move 20 / 30,

but made some serious strategic mistakes:
(1) not asking for Japanese / Brazilian assistance earlier
(2) trying to cross the Adirondacks
(3) trying a Canadian invasion, on top of those mistakes

Not taking away from SF_slith's gaming acumen,
he won it on his own counter-offensives...

SO those paratroops that were stuck would not have helped me much, if any.

The game was all his from about move 30 onward,
and esp. when he gained the initiative around move 40 or so.

I think I am going to have to surrender.

It is a pretty fun scene, very strategic,
not sure if it has a PO.

Well suited to PBEM play, I think.

I think the scenario does need a tweak, though--to give air transport to the German paratroops.

Or maybe make them sea-borne capable, with an anchorage that they could use at the start to get to US soil, then use paradrops from a US airbase that the Germans might take later.

Resignation tendered.

Lessons learned:

(1) ask for Japanese / Brazilian assist earlier on
(2) focus Axis Forces on an achievable goal early on
(3) forget a Canadian Invasion? focus on US Soil

I am sure there are other lessons, those are the main three I am getting.

Well played, SF!
An OVERWHELMING U.S. victory, well earned.

H
