I liked KoH, too. Unfortunately, the majority of sequels, which should be awesome based on the design power at the fingertips of devs today, typically fall short.
But the mainstream companies are so often looking for a quick buck by riding on the popularity of the old classics.
Nothing new that. Doom II has the same game engine as the original, adds 1 new weapon, handful of new monsters, and all new maps. Likewise many Tiller's games seem to be same old with new scenarios and sometimes with some new units. I haven't played any of the Tiller's games, so I might be mistaken.
