Episode #301 of our irregular dives into the wonderful world of the local press. For non-Scottish readers (ie 99.9% of you) the Press and Journal is a regional paper covering the wider region around Aberdeen.

Now the key question is ... which of you ever imagined an attempted axe-murder could be non-violent?

No link to the article. But a loaded gun could have stopped them - or a claymore!

Of course it is headless, it is a topless bar.

BTW, did they show pictures of the body?

Also, I imagine if I witnessed some bloke near me getting axed to death, I'd be 'running from the scene' as well. That sort of proximal involvement is not conducive to relaxing perambulations away, but rather getting the **** out of there.

Aren't you allowed to carry openly in Texas? Me, I am not up to running much any more.

I think that Georgia is an open carry state.

Texas allows open carry of handguns if you have a handgun permit from that state or another state that they recognize the open carry permit. I thought that was what the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution is about. That is the law that New Hampshire uses as its gun law.

Mass shootings happen where guns are banned. The people doing the mass shootings don't want people firing back.

PA is open carry, yet Pittsburg and Philly lead the state in mass shootings. Though the latter, as a class 3 city, requires a LTCF.

Based on what, exactly? Nevada is open carry. So is Texas.

oddly the last mass shooting in Scotland was in 1996 - we removed the right to have privately held handguns after Dunblane. And .. quite amazingly we've never had anything since .. and this in a society with a depressingly high level of violence, links to Northern Irish paramilitarism and all the rest.

you'd be a lot better getting rid of private guns all together ... if you really care about protecting children.

England and Wales has had 2 - 1987 and 2010 - and as far as I know those are the only three mass shootings ever in Great Britain.

It is part of the US Constitution. But criminals can still get firearms even if it is illegal for them to have them. But I understand that there are more knife attacks now in the UK.

But all that is best for another discussion.

Strangely enough knife attacks are the number one killer and are in the 1000s in Great Britain in 2016-1018, its not a gun problem or knife problem its a human problem more specificity a sin problem but i wont go into religion on here.

I thought it was Noli non-legitum carbor undum est (excuse the spelling) or at least that's the logo of some A10 warthog squadron of which I can't remember the number. Was over the Quality office at SLC-6 VAFB when I worked there.

er no, in Scotland in 2017-18 there were a total of 4,163 knife related crimes. 2,520 of these were where someone was arrested for something else and found to have a knife, the balance were arrests primarily due to having a knife in a public place.

We had a total of 33 deaths due to knife attack. Now I agree that 33 is far too many but for contrast in the same year, we had 2 deaths due to the use of firearms.

Hello All,

Please note we have locked this thread for obvious reasons. The original post from Loki was humourously pointing out the original article, before this has quickly turned into a debate on politics. As we find ourselves saying all too often, we do not tolerate politics on this forum. There are plenty of places online regarding this subject where you can debate this to your heart's content. This is a video game forum, and we do not tolerate politics on here.

RangerJoe, you have hijacked this post for your own agenda on the 2nd post. Consider this your sole warning: if you attempt to inflame or discuss politics on the forum again you will be banned. Ringoblood, please also note that you are getting this same final warning, as you also are openly discussing sensitive political subjects we do not tolerate on our forums
