Looking for a bit of help from our Russian Colleagues, or those knowledgeable in Soviet/Russian ship names.

According to several accounts there was supposed to be a fourth Ivan Rogov class ship built.

This CIA file has it available in 88 which was optimistic since the Mitrofan Moskalenko came on line in 89

Russian Ship info doesn't list it, but a couple other sources say that it was laid down including my hardcopy Janes and Combat fleets.

So in Northern Fury, I'm going to have him completed @ Kaliningrad and commissioned just before the war in 94 - question --- what would be his name?

Thanks

I don't know how strictly accurate it would be, but I'd look up decorated naval infantrymen from World War II and give the ship the name of one of those.

I offer name of Colonel General Sergey Vorobyov. Like a Mitrofan Moskalenko he served many years in support (logistic) service. Or Admiral Semen Zakharov, like Rogov and Nikolayev he served as political or morale officer. If you decide to take Coiler's advice, you can give the name of Hero of Soviet Union Major General Vasiliy Trushin. In 1942 - 1946 kommander of several marine brigades of Pacific Fleet and Baltic Fleet.

I like that one. Thanks you both Coiler & Filitch

You just might see him in on of the next Baltic Fury scenarios.

Cheers.

Wait a minute...
Which ship was the Russian Flagship for 1967 Arab Israeli War? Was it Moskova? I thought it was Ivan Rogov.

I'm pretty sure the 5th Operational Squadron deployed in response to US activities in the 67 war but the Flagship was the Volga, a Ugra-class submarine tender, project1886.

The Ivan Rogov was commissioned in 78, not sure if he went to the Med early but served much of his time in the Pacific.

AFAIK flagship was submarine tender Magomed Gadzhiev (Pr.310/Don-class). Volga just was launched in December 1966.
