Game won't start

Game won't start
I am running Windows 10 with 16 megs of RAM and a 500 GB HDD.
I picked up ATG during the Steam sale and when I try to launch the game from Steam I get a Windows error with the following:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Looks like you haven't updated to the 2.28b patch, which includes the file it says it is missing.

RE: Game won't start
I can’t update since I am running in Steam, and Steam is supposed to automatically update the game. So Steam must not be doing that. So back to square one.

RE: Game won't start
Hi,
It seems for some reason your upgrade didn't acquire all files.
How to fix this?
-Go to Library
-Right click on ATG
-Select Properties
-Go to 'local file' tab
-Select verify integrity of game files
This process will detect missing files and replace them.
Should fix your issue.
Best wishes,
Vic

I am sorry Zovs,
You are being hit by a rather particular problem that doesn't seem to affect any other players.
Please bear with me and we'll try to figure it out.
I would like to see this fixed.
To start with a number of questions.
1. Can you go to 'browse local files' and verify irrKlang.NET4.dll is present?
2. Can you go to 'BETAS' tab and check which mode is active?
3. Can you share your Operating System with us? (Windows10, Windows8, etc..)
4. Could you try installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and see if that fixes the problem? (only if you have Win Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10)

RE: Game won't start
What is strange is that I have two of VR Design's games. ATG and DC:Barbarossa. DC Barbarossa runs just fine and is quite a spectacular game. I also have a total of 8 games running on Steam.
Here is the side kicker, for almost all of my games (sans ATG and DC Barbarossa) I have always purchased them on Matrix and then for the other 6 games got the Steam key off the regular key.
I decided to take a risk and purchase games from Steam and got ATG and DC:Barb on sale to test em out. I am very pleased with DC:Barb it works just fine and is a fine game, but ATG does not.
Also, I don't have with either of these games a download, I did get the Steam Key from Steam for DC:Barb, but could not locate it for ATG. Also from Matrix and Slitherline I could not find a way to download the exes. That kind of sucks. I have over 30+ games from Matrix an all the exe's to install them plus all my keys. But not so with these two Steam purchases.
Is there a way to rectify that?
Thanks,
Don

RE: Game won't start
Hi,
For the 'keys' issue you'll have to contact Matrix support. My mission is just to make your game run.
The thing is all seems ok. However you must be a special case as hundreds of other installs worked..
(a) option A
What might be the case is that your system is missing 'MSVCR100.DLL'.
You could do a search (see magnifying glass on your taskbar) for this filename first.
It should be properly re-installed with this microsoft installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... px?id=5555
(restart computer afterwards)
(b) option B
What might be the case is that your system is missing 'VCRUNTIME140.DLL'.
You could do a search (see magnifying glass on your taskbar) for this filename first.
It should be properly re-installed with this microsoft installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=52685
(chose the x86 version, and restart computer afterwards)
Let me know how this goes and if you have these 2 files installed in the first place?
best wishes,
Vic
Let me know how this goes and if you have these 2 files installed in the first place?
best wishes,
Vic

RE: Game won't start
Happy to hear that.
But i'll keep an eye on this issue. I thought these files where standard. Did you actually have the file on your pc and you reinstalled it? or was it missing completely in the first place?
Might have to ask for an installer update if somebody else gets this issue as well.
Best wishes,
Vic

RE: Game won't start
I did a search for that one file from Option A and could not find it. So I went to he link from MS you posted and it installed it. So I can only presume it was missing (this is a newish PC, and I have not been gaming a whole lot on it yet>
Like I said before, out of the 8 games on Steam I got, it was the only one causing issues, it seems it was due to the missing (or corrupt) MSVCR100 file.
I used to have an advance search tool for windows but this box is new so I'll re-find it and do an exhaustive search for it.

RE: Game won't start
I have sort of found an answer, it appears that the *100.dll series of files is missing.
Here is the installed MSVCR100.dll from today:
And here is the VCRUNTIME140.dll (note that there is not VCRUNTIME100.dll). I wonder if I should install it? Or just leave it be?
