in D21 senario I noticed that some dark green (high density trees) hexes are considered as light woods instead of forest, and some light green(low density trees) hexes are also considered as light woods. Is it a problem/bug in the map or intended?

Probably because there are two many types of terrains in a hex to properly display them all. Sometimes though, in the Editor they are all displayed.

I opened this with .21 and all of the terrain I moused over showed the correct information. Both Forest and Light Woods in the same hex would display as such in the info bar at the bottom. Can you recall what the hex coordinates were?

64,210 says light woods and icon looks like high density forest
70,217 same. in fact, the next one for comparison is 69,218, and looks totally different to 70,217, but both says light woods.

Inset at top of this screen shot is what is seen in the Editor, at the bottom is how it is seen in game. There seems to be plenty of room, but it doesn't show the 'Forest'.

In this case it is pretty obvious, but it isn't always that way. When in doubt, I've found it best to check using the Editor.

I would call that bugged. Not sure how much good it would do to report it. If I recall this isn't the first time someone has mentioned this. But hey, forget the bugs, let's add new stuff.

Well the terrain is both forest and light woods and IIRC it depends on which terrain is placed first in the map editor, so you can experiment with placing some light woods first and then some forest and see what it says in both the editor and the game, and then have another flipped flopped.

Its an old 90's artificate from Norm I think...so it can't be a bug, cause Norm made it so...:-)

If it displays properly in the editor then it should be able to display properly in the game one would think. It's just strange that every terrain type that combines with light woods shows except forest. So if it's been bugged since 1998 then how sad is that?
