Demonstration of taking France via attacking the Maginot in 1939 while only using Infantry versus Poland.

This is the end of Germany's 2nd Turn.

End of Allied Turn 4
(I had forgotten to take a picture at the start of the turn).
Note: Germany has had perfect weather so far.

End of German Turn 5
Germany's 'bad' weather was simply frozen, allowing the Luftwaffe to continue it's devastation.

Note: With what was going on, there was no way in hell I was going to piss away the BEF just to hold France another turn (or 2 at the outside).
If they were committed so far south, there is no way they would've escaped.

Note 2: Fafnir took the Early paratroopers decision as you can see them cutting off the 2 Armies around Mulhouse.

End of German Turn 6
Now finally at the start of 1940.

I think the Axis weather was Mud/Snow or maybe Frozen/Snow.
Either way Verdun still fell versus the 2 Armor units without doing a point of damage back.

End of Allied Turn 7.

The Allies counter attack.
Fafnir made a rare mistake and put a Tank in a swamp hex.
I made a possible mistake in the counter attack by moving the Army NE of Reims in front of Paris instead of perhaps using it to attack the str 5 Panzers.

End of German Turn 8.

Another good weather turn for Germany. Notice a trend here with my weather rainy (not that I had any air force left to use).

Brussels is taken with I believe a single (if not 2 at most) bomber and a paratrooper.
Additional attacks were made simply to farm experience.

Looks like you did a pretty good job given the circumstances Taxman.

Historically, France surrendered 25 June '40, its hard to imagine things could have gone much better for the Germans.

Germany certainly wasn't going to attack France thru the Maginot Line (w/o heavy losses) and wasn't going to attack the Low lands in October '39 => February '40. Not what ifs, but no ways.

These early attacks on France are tactics generally used by the games top players who probably don't need them anyway.

I would suggest

1) Significantly strengthening the Maginot line (all max 6 entrenchment starting at 4), its game changing everyone attacking the weak link Metz.

2) If the low lands are attacked prior to February '40 US/SU mobilization doubles (vs current) towards Allies & French MPP's go up a lot.

A competent Axis attack can surely take France by June '40 following a more historic timeline.

The gamey stuff should go.

Axis Turn 11

Paris falls, no air raid or other attacks on UK soil.
Germany elects to go 'All France' an Italian Army and Garrison begin marching north into Tunisia.

Germany has taken a total of 2,172 MPP worth of losses, with no units being destroyed.
