Herman Wouk, author of The Caine Mutiny, passed away. That book and movie were one of my favourites and I also enjoyed the books and TV mini-series The Winds of War, and War and Remembrance. Robert Mitchum starred in the TV Mini-series but it was Victoria Tennant starring as his love interest, Pamela, that caught my attention!

Captain Queeg is the only guy who got removed from power for playing with his balls too much ...

ARRRRGGGGHH! I saved a .gif file but it was too large to upload. So I edited it to shrink the size and the program saved it as a .jpg! So much for illustrations!

Wow! I assumed he had passed years ago. Maybe I’ll just have to sit down and re-watch the mini-series. It’s too bad it was made without today’s special effects.

Don’t forget about Jane Seymour and Sharon Stone in the second instalment!

The movie is a classic, but the book is simply tremendous. Very deep with a lot of insight into the U.S. Navy of WWII (the book is at least part autobiography). Audible has the audio version which, coincidentally, my kids and I have been listening to (very gradually) in the car over the last few weeks. Just getting to the trial. I HIGHLY recommend the audio book.
May this magnificent author rest in peace.
