There are some issues with the in game editor at times. It's still a little fiddly.

For example when in Deployment Mode and you select a unit and then hit the hot key 'u' and then are adding new equipment to a unit sometimes after a slight period of time the graphics looks double criss-crossed and when you try to click a system its like taking the one underneath it in the list and that is very frustrating.

Same thing in the same editor ('u') when you try to click on an existing system it keeps selecting the one underneath it.

I’ll take a screenshot next time it happens and post it here.

It's a little more than fiddly for me. I open a copied scenario in MyGames under my profile while running the editor. Deployment Mode, pick a unit to get its details, hit the unit symbol to change symbol, pick and different symbol and the the whole game comes crashing down.. This is on Win10 fresh install of .20 with .21 then executed to patch. I let it have its way with any directx updates (game folder shows June2010??) Tried compatibility mode back to Win7 and as admin. No difference. There also appears to be registration issues with a few windows where you have to click above the button to get it to activate. Will consider a re-install next, followed by an installation on my Win7 machine where my OAW III is still running nicely thank you.

Yes I have learned not to do what you did, it crashes every time. I also am on W10.

It is incomplete, not done. Do all of your unit editing in the Force Editor.

Equipment Changes are actually easier to implement with the 'new' Unit Editor, but you still have to switch back to the Force Editor for any other changes. Shame we were given this mess with IV, and a TOTAL SHAME that it hasn't been corrected in YEARS.

Totally agree with Steve.

I switch back and forth between both unit editors. Shame it’s not been fixed in years for Pete’s sake.

I didn't notice the button alignment issue after installing on Windows 7. But right, same problem with picking another unit symbol. Will try it from the force editor from now on. Honestly, I'm trying to find a work-around to not being able to mod non-nato unit symbols that are unique to each force side. Like having T-62 silhouette for armor for one side and M60A1 for armor on the other. I figure there's lots of symbols on the CounterUnits.png that are not going to be in use in any one scenario AND are not granting special abilities to units.. like battle group or task force. So why not re-purpose unused symbols in that file for a single scenario to create more variety for the same unit type. Maybe better to try this in a new scenario built from scratch than convert, say NATO-Warsaw Pact 78.

The issue with the above is that if you want to create custom icons, for example, with silhouettes of planes, you have 15 to work with. With TOAW III we had 1620 to work with. Probably nobody is ever going to need 1620 custom icons, but who cares? Who wants to be restricted to 15 for no reason?

Non-NATO graphics have already been developed which may be just what you are looking for. It would take a copy and paste job to build your graphics set, but it can be done so long as you stay within the limitations mentioned above.

Fellow named Cabido has made equipment silhouettes which can be found at:
Mods and Scenarios > Mods > Figurative Counters.

Check the manual. No special attributes are identified for the bicycle or ski infantry.

I wondered about those myself, and I know that the Ski Icon will only be available during snow, otherwise it switches to Infantry. I suppose there is also something about the Bicycle Icon but I don't know what.
