I've played the first 3 turns of this game and NATO has no air units. I took a look at the WP player side, and they have no air units either. This seems very weird. Any ideas?

Happy holidays

Are you playing the latest version? I can't imagine what happened to the aircraft.

Larry,

I'm trying the one that came with the game. I thought it very odd that there were no planes.

This is how the scenario designer intended it to be for whatever reason. All you have are helos.

Lobster,

Okay, I will have to think about continuing. It is weird not having an air force...

Thanks

What kind of "modern" scenario would have no planes? Somebody
will have to add planes before this scenario will become popular.
I found out that I didn't have any planes in T1 but thought maybe
they come later but then on T2 there weren't any either. Matt and
I decided to move on to a different scenario.

Larry, my guess is that the scenario is a direct port of the old Central Front series-game from SPI. There were no air units in the BAOR board game, but players got variable amounts of "air points" that could be used to affect the combat results or conduct interdiction. If someone wanted to model that system in TOAW, the events editor could probably produce a reasonable facsimile. The other approach would take research to determine which air units may have been available to both sides in the BAOR sector.

Cheers

Fortunately there's a team of scenario designers working on a different NATO/WP scenario
"expanded The Next War 1979" which you can find here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4569088

From what I've gathered so far it's going to be extreamly detailed as far as equipment employed and units represented in the game and I'm not sure about the map, I've heard very little about the map. You might want to check it out.
