Update: I downloaded Build 998.14 and the issue was resolved.



I suspected this recently while playing Northern Fury scenarios 9, 10, and 10.5, when Aegis ships refused to engage incoming missiles until long after Sea Sparrow ships had opened fire. Today I built a test scenario that seems to confirm it.

The test fires salvoes of 8 Harpoons against an Oscar Austin, an NTU Kidd, and a pre-NTU Kidd (all separated by 100 miles so as not to interfere with each other). The pre-NTU Kidd engages normally, firing from detection until the missiles reach the ship. However, the Burke and NTU Kidd refuse to engage until CIWS range (<2 miles). If manual engagement is attempted (Shift + F1), it tells me "Target is out of the weapon's DLZ" even though there is no way a subsonic target on a collision course less than 17 miles away should be out of the DLZ of SM-2MR or ESSM.

If the Burke is armed with SM-6 and ESSM, another odd behavior appears - the ship will engage the incoming weapons when they are detected. But it will stop firing after a point (displaying the same "out of DLZ" message even though it just shot at the same target from further away) and ignore the missiles until they enter CIWS range. Given the improved behavior of active homing missiles, I suspect the problem has something to do with how datalinks and semiactive radar homing are interacting.

I am using Command v1.14 Build 998.11 and Database build 475.

I'm not seeing the problem after running the save 3 times. All 3 ships are engaging the Harpoons as soon as they are detected and firing until they are destroyed without any input from me. Can you maybe record this behavior happening because this is strange?

Same here, after the vampires are detected and the OODA loop runs down, all 3 ships immediately start to fire SAMs until the incoming missiles are destroyed...

have you tried updating the game and running the test again to see if it fixes the issue for you?

Interesting. Here's a recording of what happens for me.

This is the third time I've restarted the game and run the test (not counting the earlier Northern Fury scenarios).

I have just had a thought, there was a bug with Aegis and NTU in a previous game version, it has been fixed however...

Have you tried updating to 998.14?
