Close down a hostile harbour deploying your mines and a SEAL-Team from your submarines.
The scenario is playing in 1987 when the cold war becomes a hot one.

-> mining as a victory condition
-> special operation of SEAL-Team to destroy harbour facility
-> request help from allied forces (strike mission via LUA-SpecialAction)

Please let me know what you are thinking about it, report of problems, recommendation for improvement,...

Many thanks
and have fun!

Martin

nice little scen, I scored a 225 major victory, even though I lost one of the subs early on cause it hit one of its own mines. I thought the 2 hour fuse would be enough but 3 or even 4 hours would have been better.

- there was no message on how to recover the seal team, I left them and they were found and killed.
- I would put a note in about the fuse on the mines - and that it should be set to 3 hours or more, but not too much more. I also moved the ref points for the mining area down a bit as the mines were laid to keep the sub from going back up
- maybe more than -100 points for loosing a sub?
- also add a note that the subs need to be within 1.5 miles to land the seals, I was wondering about that until I did the action and then it told me
- there is another sub scen posted recently, in that one you only get intel from above at certain points rather than all the time even though you are underwater, I like that but would do it so you get intel if one of the subs is at periscope depth, though with 2 subs you could cheat
- date for the expected convoy says: 'Arrival of the next convoy ist estimated at 200600Z NOV.' - is that Nov 20?

Nice job on the seal insertion, I like the way that worked. The mines worked really well. I did not do the ASuW action.

I got this in the lua history log, pretty sure it was from this scen, not sure what it was though:

Function:ScenEdit_GetUnit (0) Error:Need to define a Name or Guid to identify a unit. Preferably a Guid or Side & Name.

Thanks for your feedback, Whicker.
I improved the briefing (description of insertion/extraction of SEALs and mine arming delay) and the scoring and fixed the errors in the LUA code.
The intel thing (receiving only when on periscope depth) is not so easy for me...
In the meantime I thought about a little workaround: I removed all radar stations. Only one E-3a is in the air, which comes in range every 4 hours. So you get an update of surface/air picture just every 4 hours. In the other time you are on your own.

Finally I updated the scenario again, introducing the suggestion of Whicker for getting intel-updates only at fixed times and when at periscope depth.

There are fixed radio traffic times (0000z, 0400z, 0800z, ....) every 4 hours. One of the submarines has to be at periscope depth at this times to get an update of RMP/RAP from NATO-Forces. (Updates only available when E-3a is in range)

The request for ASuW-strike also repuires going to periscope depth. So this should be more realistic now.

Please have a look into the updated scenario (uploaded to the first post on top).
Is the scenario to easy? More ASW-units required?

Excellent and challenging scenario.
I designed "Choking Halifax" a while ago, and I assumed (Wrongly.) that it was similar to my scenario.
I had to play it 3 times before achieving satisfactory results.
Great work!

Best,

Great scenario.

Mining worked fine, had to intervene a bit when one of the subs got distracted and went hunting a Whiskey, by the time it came back the mines (set to 4 hrs) were going active so I just adjusted the mining area to keep the sub safe.

I think there are some problems with the SOF teams:

-When I activated the SA to deploy them, the sub went to another side (auto) but immediately reverted to player control and I believe your intent was to keep them unavailable to the player for 10 min or so.
-When I activated the SA to recover them the sub went to the other side and stayed there forever - I went to the editor to bring them back to my side but the lua for that isn't working

A couple of important safety tips for using the SOF HE explosive you may want to include in the brief:
-keep the SOF team a safe distance (100M or so) away or they will take damage)
-You need to use the SHIFT+F1 attack function and assign one HE explosive to the target at a time otherwise they all get used up and you get mediocre results - not sure if this is a bug or not.

Will try and finish it later but was closing on the convoy with both subs as a Grisha & Parcham were closing in so it could be tense.

Tx

One final point, the Rail Ferries are supposed to be the priority so I think a score bonus would be a good idea. Currently all the merchant ships in the convoy are worth the same value.

Escaping from that attack in that shallow water was quite a trick. As they were closing in on one sub, I fired torps from the other causing the hunters to scatter - otherwise I'm fairly sure one of the U-boats would have died.

Good scenario

My AAR / Spoiler ahead.

In my first two plays I´ve found suicidal to plant mines in a less than 21 meter depth.
I got whacked repeatedly by the ASW helos.
My SEAL team was hunted and shot by a mech platoon.
So I decided the main objective was to get the ferries.
I moved the two minefield reference points 40 nm east in an area between 26 and 21 meter depth, and merged them in a V shape ship funnel with the opening facing east.
The trap worked beautifully. Despite having just 4 antiship torpedoes per sub I just positioned them at the extremes of the minefield until most mine hitting ships had to limp back eastwards without any chance to outrun the torps. One ferry and the cruise ship sunk, the other ferry dead in the water. DDR navy lost one frigate and both SSK, also sunk by torps and mines.

Great scenario.

Sorry, I was "offline" for some months and paused to follow the forum.

Many thanks for your feedback.
I will take a look into the bugs regarding deploying and recovering the seal team. Could this happen because of new CMO (scenario was designed under old CMANO and worked fine).

I think it is necessary, to rework the scenario to CMO (and use the new realistic sub-communication features).

Very nice scenario and great story. Congratulations.

Played it in CMO, but It gave me a LUA error message when inserting the SEAL. Probably need to be reworked.
All the other parts performed nicely. You can even hang immobile to the bottom of the sea to evade the fregate patrolling with HF sonar
