Yeah, that one is a chilling thought. I also had one recently that said "[ship] engine room open to the sea". Surprisingly the ship did not sink and I got it to nearest port. When System Damage is 0, I will try to move it to a shipyard.

"Damage Control parties trapped in flooded compartment...

I've had this a few times, usually followed the next day by out of control flooding and a sunken ship.

Recently, however, an extremely badly damaged sub actually survived this type of incident and made it to a safe port -- presumably minus the drowned DC personnel.

Check the crew experience.

It should have went down, simulating the loss of crew.

Last night when I first spotted this post I had just finished a turn of invading the Mariana's.

The AI sent a couple of small naval air strikes at the Death Star that got chewed to pieces by the immense CAP, but true to the form for the AI, one Betty and one Grace got through one each strike and both times the single plane delivered a fish into a CVE.

One of those was the Bismarck Sea which is now limping to port with 61 flotation damage.

Just thought it was an interesting coincidence to close that turn and open your thread about stricken Bismarck Sea.

Change the name in the editor to Lake Okeefenokee and that should fix it, in the future.

It did indeed! Before the DC parties were trapped, exp was 57/57; afterward, 54/53. Very cool that there is that level of detail.

The exp drop should be higher for the Japs. From what I read, USN trained more sailors per ship in damage control than Japs did.

I think that the US ships have a hardcoded bonus to damage control. Like the torpedo dud rate.

So the loss of XP should be similar for US and Japanese. It represents general level experience for the crew, not just DC.
