Is there a known issue with newbies doing supply air drops on turn 1?

For some reason playing as axis i can only get a limited number of transport groups flying air drop missions. Its they same groups wherever I shift click on the map. There are others with 0% flown miles and perfectly all right that dont show up as available. Even choosing their base as staging base doesnt help.

In my save game only IV./KG zbV 1 will fly and in a fresh loaded campaign only KGr zbV 50 and 104.

I still cant get the fuel drops working. I have one transport group that is flying missions without problems. When I select their base as staging base everything in range and not an enemy area is lit up with the areas out of escort range darker - as it should be I guess.

When I am choosing another base containing a transport group as staging base the map shows everything in base movement range lit up even though I am in airdrop mode. Air drops are not possible.

I am in turn 3 as axis so every base is in recently conquered territory with the exeption of the one accepting the mission, which is still within the national borders of romania.

I also have problems airdropping units. So far I have only managed to airdrop two hexes away from the base and only within the national borders of romania. For some reason they wont drop on enemy teritory.

I have read everything related I could find and would greatly appreciate some help.

Maybe you're doing air transport of units, air drops of units on enemy territory are possible only for Para units, and you will have only one such unit and only for a month (I think it's 7th FJ division in November/December 1941).

Thanks for your help. I guess you are right.

I did use the 22nd airlanding division broken down. The reason it worked within romania was obviously an adjacent romanian base.

Any hints for my fuel drop failures? That one is extremly frustrating.

On turn 1 majority of transport groups is not available, because most of their aircraft has reserve status. There are certain problem with aircraft moving from reserve status to ready, some of which were fixed in 1.11.01, but some will be fixed in next patch (no ETA yet).
I think this is the source of your problem.

Although you can, temporarily, reduce your % required to fly in air doctrine to something low enough to allow them to fly.

Thanks for all your help. But I am in turn 3 and only one transport group is accepting missions.

The things that are differing this group from the others (that i am aware of) are 1. it is within national borders 2. it sits on a railhead 3. it has been recently transfered from national reserve.

None of these should make a difference (i think), so i must be overlooking something.

Your base is 8 MP from working rail, it must be 5 MP or less for the transport to work.
