Thanks Hardluck
Here is the AAR of VigaBrand. He really liked your opening move, the Leningrad pocket must have hurt: http://www.si-games.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29088
Your Admin points and the motor pool seem to be your secret, always blackened in your sceenshots

In my current game as Soviets (first GC) I am somewhat unsure what to do with the armoured units as they cost around 4 times more than infantry to rail hindering industry evac. Do you move them around by rail after T1 and 2? They are good to concentrate CV but seem to be very fragile.
Impressive wall of steel in front of Leningrad but no fortification of the city itself?
Regards

I hate these soviet armored divisions too. They have only 18 movement points maximum and need 16 for a deliberate attack. So it is not possible to use them to attack the ennemy forces.

It is really an issue with these units. I understand that they are supposed to be slow, but the impact of giving them really low MP also prevent them for attacking in a meaning full way. At least until october 1941 where they can have 25 MP.

Personnaly, when i can i use them in reserve mode in the rear where they are better than infantry divisions. Often i use them as normal division. It is funny they are very good in a swamp or to defend a city, due to having better CV than common rifle division. . Not sûre it is the best way to use them.

I do not think possible to move them a lot by rail they are too heavy.

I have these divisions

How successful are they in reserve mode? Do they react quite often? I haven't dug deep into this reserve thing so far...

According to my memories, i think motorized soviet division have a bonus to activation as reserve mode. So they are better than rifle division as reserve, and have more punch than a brigade. (Brigade activate more than division too).

Activation is also highly helped by initiative rating of leadership.

Thanks again for the explanations, as a new addicted player you need to learn from the long term addicts. I pay a lot of attention to saving trucks as well. 1 early panzer division is useless but it contains the trucks for a late war mech korps which will make the Germans run (so I hope).

Thank you for the link, I will read the AAR. I can unblacken the screen shots if you like, 0 admin points and motor pool close to maxxed on German screenshot and the soviet you can see since I didn't blacken all of them. Nothing really much to hide.

Thought you try to hide a secret hack to get 200 APs every turn both as soviets and axis :D

Also remember that current patch your digging capability is lessened in reserve mode too btw ;_)

+sappers don't help digging this unit anymore iIrc.

I have over 3,100 hours on one of my two steam accounts(my 2nd account (OrderInChaos) has around 400ish hours I think).

I am such a noob with only 1417 hours to my name.

That is no more than two months time playing 24/7.

Sometimes, you have the opportunity to make a deliberate attack with a very good soviet armored or motorized division in front of moscow in august 1941, like me just now.

After killing 130 BT-7, the ennemy division ran out of ammunition and had to evacuate

It is really not the units of the year.
