First we have to remember that the Barrikady Historical Module has 2 levels of height. The ground hexes of the factory are at level 1, while the Volga river bank and the gullys are at level 0.

The hex AA6 (M6 in your image) has a stone building of 2 levels of height with an interior floor of 1 level. In absolute terms, the building has a level 3 and the units within it (on the floor) are at level 2.

The group of German units in hex AD3 (P3 in your image) are located inside a factory, so they are at ground level (level 1 in absolute terms).

The norms of a factory are very similar to those of ASL (in the Tutorial of Heroes and Leaders mod there is a section dedicated to the factories and their special characteristics so here I suppose they are known).

The LOS from AA6 (M6) to AD3 (P3) goes through hex AB5 (N5 in your image). In this hex there are Debris, which obstruct the LOS but do not block it (in the Tutorial of Heroes and Leaders mod there is a section dedicated to Debris and its special characteristics so here I suppose they are known).

In short, the LOS from AA6 (M6) to AD3 (P3) undergoes an obtruction of the Debris of AB5 (N5), which have 1 level of height, so that their shot against the Germans located there suffer a +1 penalty for degradation, in addition to the TEM of the factory.

Note that if the German units were in AC5 (D5 in your image), then there would be a +2 penalty for degradation, since hex AC5 (D5) is a "blind" hex (located just behind the Debris of AB5), although the Russians still have visibility up to AC5 D5).

The LOS of the Russian units in AD6 (P6 in your image) to AD3 (P3) also crosses the Debris of AD5 (P5), so they also suffer a +1 penalty for degradation, in addition to the TEM of the factory.

Wall of the factory building:

Right. The TEM of the factory façade is 4. The TEM of factory inside is 1, as if there were Debris inside.

In the previous image, the information that appears in the pop-up box is the one corresponding to the hex. The game does not provide information about the hexsides, such as walls, hedges, bocages, train tracks, or factory façades.


Shot from one factory hex to another hex of the same factory is a TM of only +1:

SPOTTERS, new unit for Heroes and Leaers mod:

A Spotter unit is a Scout unit specialized in the observation and direction of artillery fire onboard or OBA.

A Spotter unit does not have inherent FP.

Each unit of artillery onboard may have several different Spotters to direct it throughout the game.

As long as the Spotter remains in Good Order, the mortar(s)/OBA may fire on any target in the Spotter's LOS.

A new Spotter cannot be selected to direct a mission of a specific unit of indirect fire onboard until the original Spotter has completed its mission on this Turn.

Spotter units have less mobility than combat infantry units.

The Special Service Force (also called The Devil's Brigade, The Black Devils, The Black Devils' Brigade, and Freddie's Freighters), was an elite American-Canadian commando unit in World War II, under command of the United States Fifth Army.
The Special Service Force traced its origins to Marshall's trip to Great Britain in early 1942, the same visit that had inspired the formation of the 1st Ranger Battalion. The commandos, using special vehicles, would conduct a series of winter raids against snowbound German garrisons of such vulnerable points as hydroelectric stations in Norway and oil refineries in Romania. The concept fascinated Marshall. In June the Allies agreed to form a Canadian-American force under Col. Robert T. Frederick to conduct the raids.
At Fort William Henry Harrison, Montana, Frederick assembled his new unit, consisted of hardened volunteers of Army units in the Southwest and on the Pacific seaboard for , especially those with a background as "lumberjacks, forest rangers, hunters, north-woodsmen, game wardens, prospectors, and explorers." Some "volunteer" contingents even arrived at Fort Harrison under armed guard. Frederick soon driving his men through an intensive program that stressed physical conditioning, weapons training, hand-to-hand fighting, demolitions, and rock climbing. For training in winter warfare, the recruits lived in boxcars on the Continental Divide while receiving instruction in cross-country skiing from Norwegian instructors. Frederick wanted to have the unit ready for operations by the winter of 1942-43.
In August 1943 the unit finally went into action for the first time, spearheading the bloodless recapture of Kiska in the Aleutians. In October, General Clark, secured the transfer of the Special Service Force to his Fifth Army in the Mediterranean.
On 14 August 1944, the unit landed on the islands of Port Cros and Île du Levant during Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France. They fought the small Battle of Port Cros in which they captured the five forts on the islands from the German Army. On 22 August it was attached to the 1st Airborne Task Force, a provisional Seventh Army airborne division, and later made part of the Task Force. On 7 September it moved with the 1st Airborne Task Force to defensive positions on the Franco-Italian border.
The combat force was to be made up of three regiments. Each regiment was led by a lieutenant colonel and 32 officers and boasted a force of 385 men. The regiments were divided into two battalions with three companies in each battalion and three platoons in each company. The platoon was then broken up into two sections. During the war the 1,800-man unit accounted for some 12,000 German casualties, captured some 7,000 prisoners, and sustained an attrition rate of over 600%.
In July 1942, the Canadian Minister of National Defence, James Ralston, approved the assignment of 697 officers and enlisted men for Project Plough, under the guise that they were forming Canada's first airborne unit, the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion (1CPB).
