Yes I agree sadly the included scenarios don't I'm afraid show the games potential off..we hope to remedy that..I do anyway. I wasn't involved in the game pre release otherwise things may have been abit different. Scott at the time just didn't have enough help sadly. Apparently he said the first 3 months of feedback from me was more than he had got in the last god knows how many years.

As usual, the attraction for me with TU is the editor. Just start a new scenario at "expert" level and you can change everything or zip through the screens if you like. Without the ability to build new scenarios, I would be very disappointed. So for me it is like a test tube game for WW2.

I know Rico has always wanted to change the atmospheric humidity and wind speed and direction in his games, and with TU you can change lots. These conditions of course affect the way the bullets fly. Seriously.

But personally, I think Rico will continue to be most super-productive with Tigers on the Hunt

red2112 we always can do with help

As for being updated well I can tell you that I'd say 75%+ code has been rewritten. So much is and has been done (though many wont believe work has never stopped) to be brutally frank we don't have the time for regular updates. However extra hands would change this I'm sure:)

A minor change in code can be a huge undertaking..example..I once asked Scott if a particular area of spotting could be modiefied...the answer was it wasn't a case of doing a negative number here or there because sighting is based on photons blah blah blah..that's how complex it is.

email me j__rimmer@hotmail.com

Thanks Wodin for the info!

email sent...

Care,

Red

Thank you all, so if I understood you TU is a simulation game like Combat Mission under the guise of an old wargame. You start to interest me...

Still getting "External Exception" error along with two more errors, seems to be on maps with bigger unit count. Sent some mails to Scott, but seems to be MIA! Same goes for HPS support and other here!

I donīt get why people donīt even bother to anwser there mails! I could understand that from a 15 year old, but mature people? The reality check is that it all seems good and accounted for in public, but itīs not! Iam quite shattered to be honest, beacuse this was my birthday present from my wify!

Playing any game in the TSS series entails having to learn a whole different way of playing a wargame you've experienced upto now..and it takes some getting used too..and some never really get it sadly. Esp on the higher difficulty and FOW settings (which really is how it should be played). ALso DON'T play using composites..BUT DO use Maneuverer groups. The MGroup section in the manual is a must read early on.

For my birthday, I buy a game that is out of the ordinary, kind of bugged or who does not want to get started at startup (forums are funnier), this year I hesitate between Tigers unleashed (a new game system) , and Close Combat Wacht am Rhein (the biggest battle of the Second World War) that only works in window mode under windows 10.
Yin and Yang.

a new gaming system is always nice, and windows 10, while it has it quirks, it's a very stable platform, and also everything tried on it atm works, even older dos games in a good emu or play them browser based etc, either way it's the future, either get one now, or in a year or so, but either way, it's going to happen sooner rather than later, the new pc and windows 10

game wise, not sure if i can take on any more games atm, have more than enough to be going on with, but will keep an eye on it all the same, and regarding testing, if anyone wants any done on any game, regarding feedback, just ask, i'm always around and ready to spam any site or game with feedback and impressions if needed or asked

Super ZakBlood, you will be able to tell me why a patch for Close Combat Wacht am Rhein works in normal mode is not planned while you have a very talented team.

I agree with you 100%!

Actualy, my next video will deal with FOW and movment (including Maneuver groups), because I think thatīs were people are having trouble understanding the TSS system. I will get into report/combat phases (SITREPS) later in a next video as also folks donīt get the idea behind all this (Task Force Commander), which in turn is also tied to command delays which at the same time is tide to movment and FOW

The problem is that once you try either one, you will not see wargames as you did before

After several months with a Tigers beta, I can say the product runs pretty much as designed. This is with a i7 3.6Ghz, 16 ram and GTX 745 - far from top of the line. The playbacks move very fast, and no crashes.

Unfortunately, the recently released PoA beta is in no where near as good a shape, in my brief playing of it. Crashes and an OOB I find sorely lacking after all this time. I can't even put a Javelin team together and add them to a platoon. Very limited weapons systems compared to Tigers.

So Tigers is the one I'd consider of the two.

After playing TU (I just finished a scenario), I have to agree here too! Although I do seem to have a problem with sound, sound gets cut-out with my TU version.

In the match of the year that opposes Tigers Unleashed and Close combat Wacht Am Rhein, the forecasts remain at 50/50.
On one side, TU is supported by the Ace of Literature Wodin and the other CCWAR is supported by the Ace of scientists Zakblood.
We are told that scientists are the most intelligent but it is literature men that rules the World.
The solution would be to buy both but I do not like the easy solutions.
In process ...

If you chose CCWAR, you are wisked back 15 years to the hey-days of wargaming.

If you chose TU, well you are absolutely crazy.

Seriously, on TU, go to Preferences and set the LOS to a lower number. Sort of like TotH, you don't need the computer figuring 5 sq miles of LOS, when the battle takes place within 2,000 yards. This may increase your turn speeds.

I have the LOS set to 2,000 for TU, and 4,000 for POA2.5. Basically match (aprox) your effective weapons range. Arty is usually in a out of sight range so no need to set a LOS for them. My guess is that dealing with in-flight, UAVīs and long range units, then LOS should be at max. It depends on what units are on-map. Also consider that weather, time of day and dust/smoke effect LOS.

No!! Weapons ranges are already set..the game uses photons etc etc..so it needs to be set at 30,000! Weather will reduce this. Honestly you can't reduce the LOS in the game..it's not like other games.

If you have ago at making a scenario see how it changes when you change the weather. Also the weapon LOS set now for TU has taken an awful lot of trail and error to get historical results...change at your risk..you see due to it being so detailed but uses hex based map (though everything is monitored on where in the hex it is,it means the terrain is abstract,,which has ment we had to jig about with weapon ranges...saying that I do have much better maps than those in the game which help break LOS far better than the stock geomaps!

Say stay tuned or make some yourself:)

Start reducing LOS to 2,000 you will start to mess up spotting from planes for starters..seriously the 30,000 default is or scientifically based..sadly stock scenarios are stuck at 10,000 but new ones wont be and if you make a new one it will use the new rules.

As I said this is a game unlike others. Most playing time will be going through your units, setting sop'd, checking min and max ranges, then making MGroups and giving out full attack orders..crealsitic coms means giving orders during play may take a LONG time to get to a unit..why MGroups are so important and why the main part of playing is setting up and then doing your MGroup orders..then you watch and if needed get stuck in. Also 30,000 sounds a lot but that's seeing flat to the horizon..doesn't mean you will spot units at that distance!

Ok, thanks Wodin! and no I did not mess with the weapons ranges, just the LOS settings in the prefs menu.

yes eave the LOS settings that's what I'm saying..standard is 30,000 but as you do weather effects in scenario creation you'll see this start to drop..messing with it really isn't advisablew..it isn't going to have the effect you think it will..again not like normal game, not so simple:)

I just assumed lowering LOS setting would result in faster turns, as the game actually advises doing it during turn resolution. So the game is wrong on advising that?
