Well done to the USA.

In Patrick Reed they have at last found a 'Poulter' type character that comes alive at the Ryder Cup. He was just brilliant all weekend and to beat Rory in that first game was all important to stop any potential jitters creeping in.

For Europe, whilst Clarke was unfortunate that he had so many Rookies, he will rue picking Kaymer and Westwood (although Kaymer actually turned his singles around). On the other hand Clarke added to his rookies by picking Pieters and the Belgian was Europe's top scorer!

There was talk a few years back that the US were losing interest in the Ryder Cup. One only had to listen to the crowd to know that is far from the case....

After three on the trot this was one they could not afford to lose - and they won it handsomely.

Pressure is, to quote Lee Trevino, when you need to sink a putt for $10 and you only have 5$ in your pocket.

Does Winona Ryder present the trophy?

Wow! The massive underdogs that were the European team won the 32nd Ryder Cup against a hugely strong American squad. The final score even surpassed the US score from 2-years ago, the Europeans winning 17.5:10.5.

What a venue (Paris) and what a performance from the team and the players:

Captain:
1 Dane (Bjorn)

Vice Captains:
2 Englishmen (Donald and Westwood)
1 Irishman (Harrington)
1 Northern Irishman (McDowell)
1 Swede (Karlsson)

The Players:
5 Englishmen (Casey, Fleetwood, Hatton, Poulter and Rose)
2 Spaniards (Garcia and Rahm)
2 Swedes (Stenson and Noren)
1 Dane (Olesen)
1 Northern Irishman (McIlroy)
1 Italian (Molinari)

Every player scored at least a point which was nice. Star of the show? 5 out of 5 for Molinari! Incredible.

Well done boys!!

The sad thing is that here in Italy either it is soccer, or "Molinari who?" (You can freely choose examples from other sports).
