I have been playing SPWAW with the intent of enjoying a realistic simulation of warfare, and to eventually gain enough experience (and courage :( )to play a human opponent. What Options should I use on the Preferences screen to: 1. Create the most realistic battles against the AI in Scenerios or Battles? 2. Best prepare for human opponents by PBEM or online? Thanks!

All realism options on and especially command and control. I doubt that it is possible to prepare for a human opponent by playing the AI. Find yourself another beginner and have at it... beter yet, join Combat Command League and challenge someone. ID yourself as a beginner and most everyone will help you get started. Upgrade to V5 asap so you'll have the software to play with when you take the plunge.

The quest for your personal "realism" swet spot generally comes from adjusting the Spotting, hitting, infantry toughness and artillery effectiveness settings. You can vary these from 30% to 250% of the "default" settings. While we have tried to get the "default" settings as realistic as possible, the desire to maintain compatibility with the existing scenarios makes radical changes tough. We have icreased the "dynamic range" of hitting (low suppression - particularly 0 suppression - shots are a good bit higher, but they tned to decay more with suppression, especially for low experience. High expereince is less affected by supression.

Best thing I find Read the forum and ask questions AND play other humans. The AI will never through the things at you a real person can.
