I love the editor for the game and have spent countless hours "experimenting" with different facets of the thing.

A few weeks ago I asked about aircraft art and now I make a request.

I use the great tool(mod) which allows the aircraft art to change as months and years pass in the game. It keeps the flavor of the game aesthetically correct and I do not wish to do anything to upset that mod.

Other sites offer many of the planes sides which are not in the game and I wonder if some kind and enterprising soul might be willing to grab a bunch of them and "label" them with numbers not used by the game so we might just slide them into the art folder and use them via the editor?
I can think of maybe 20 tops?

Much appreciate your consideration.

Which plane sides??

For scenario 1 the Bit map slots above 498 for the Allies and above 250 for the Japanese are free. There are a number of unused bit map numbers in between the used ones.

Any bit map number below 999 should work with the rotating artwork code. *** Incorrect see below... ***

By convention the existing artwork is numbered very close to the aircraft slot number (visible in the editor) but this is not necessary.

Pick any unused number you like and just renumber the side art to that number.

For example "A_PlaneSide0550.bmp" and save it in the folder \Art\AlliedPlanes
or "J_PlaneSide0250.bmp" and save it in the folder \Art\JapPlanes

Then just link that bit map number to your aircraft in the editor.

Couldn't be easier,

Oops looks like I have given you some mis-information.

The upper limit of aircraft bit map numbers in the editor is 499.
(Bitmap number 550 will be truncated to 55 by the editor).

So for allied aircraft you will need to find unused bit map numbers less than 499. (The roster is nearly full). I have attached the Scenario 001 aircraft data in a spreadsheet dumped by witploadAE.exe. Have a look through column R to find the aircraft bitmaps in use and use ones not listed.
(The rotating aircraft artwork from Halsey's site is based on Scenario 001).

Japanese aircraft bitmaps work fine and available above 250 to 499.

Sorry about that,
