It was a nice day. Vegas, is still old school. All the neighbors set of fireworks until 11:00 pm. This happens in all the neighborhoods. Many are illegal.

Rising Sun's reminder to us to be careful. . For the most part we are. But we do have those who are just stupid. It was a tragedy, but a 22 year old man (who had been drinking) decided to light a firework on the top of his head. He died from the explosion.

And a professional American Football player lit some fireworks in his hand and it damaged the nerves. And he is up for a contract renewal.... Hmmm.

Was a drizzly fourth in Orlando, Florida area. Didn't stop people from lighting off the fireworks though. They use the real stuff down here. When I was up in Virginia about all we could shoot off were sparklers. Twice a year this area sounds like a war zone, July 4 and January 1.

Sounds like fear of fire. Lots of forest in SC. It was the same at my home in the California mountains(National Forest Preserve) nothing is permitted not even campfires.

Actually I think it has more to do with public safety concerns when I was in Virginia (people blowing off their fingers and stuff). At least that's what I remember being told. I lived just outside the Metro DC area so there weren't many forests around for us to catch fire. Of course the people who lived a few houses down from us would go down South and get the really good stuff. So we would usually watch them shoot theirs off.

I read a few years back that Disney were the largest consumers of gunpowder in the world - or somesuch.

Turns out they don't use any gunpowder at all! Their fireworks are launched by compressed air... Well there you go.

Wishes!

That might be true. Fireworks are loaded with gunpowder. Disney for sure shoots off tons a fireworks a year.

Outside the military, they may just be using more gunpowder than any other commercial enterprise.

I just heard on the radio that the professional football player I mentioned had his index finger amputated. Smooth move, dude, in a contract year.

A guy I know literally blew up his mailbox.
The firework was a bit more powerful than he expected.
