Am ramping up to play a campaign with what turns out to be a local opponent (15 miles). Both are nearly the same age, life responsibilities and played the SPI games in the 1980s.
-We stared with RTM. After GT1, his germans where in two of the hexes adjacent to Minsk, with most of my Russians destroyed/isolated. Saw no point in playing all 3 turns.
-Now we are in turn 9 of RTL. Leningrad will be fully isolated after GT10, the other 3 sections of the front are most likely to abandon thier river lines. German forces are moving through the area above Velikie Luki. The other two lines are unopposed (FOW) but risk being too far west relative to the other sections of the line. Score is 170-177 so technically I am still winning, but it is all downhill. the reinforcents that will arrive are not combat worthy, it is up to the units on the board to stop the Germans somewhere further east. It is also apparent the Russians should quickly retreat below the No Finn Attack line and man the border with a shell of NVKD units. Stalin would have commanders shot, but the Germans seem to be much more efficient in human player hands.

Despite my background of countless hours in 15+ board game titles over 35 years; supplemented by play of SSI War in Russia/Second Front/War in Russian; either I am a poor player or the scenarios may have balance issues.
