One of the concerns I have noticed on the forum is BC's inability to hit its targets. I think this could be addressed with the addition of 8 Group and the Pathfinder Force. 8 Group was formed in August 1942 with the sole intention of improving BC's accuracy and it did help. These aircraft primarily carried incendiaries to light up the target for the main force. So this is my proposal. For every PFF squadron added to an AD, BC gets an "X" per cent improvement in its damage to its target. Here is a list of said squadrons.

7 - Oct 42
35 - Aug 42
83 - Aug 42
97 - Apr 43
156 - Aug 42
405 - Apr 43
582 - Apr 44
635 - Apr 44

The above mentioned squadrons mainly flew the Lanc. They were another of other squadrons that flew the Mossie. This group of squadrons eventually morphed in to the Light Night Strike Force. Unlike intruder squadrons, they generally hit strategic targets and became known as the Mosquito Menace. They were also used tactically. So here is my proposal for them, alternate bomb loads, incendiaries or bombs. Gives the WA player the ability to use them for what ever purpose his sees fit and gives the Axis player just fits <g>. Combined with my intruder proposal this would bring a whole new wrinkle to the night bombing campaign. And when we get finally get the EW/ECM side of things, well the skies the limit!

Mosquito equipped Pathfinders

105 - June 43
109 - Aug 43
128 - Sept 44
139 - July 43
142 - Oct 44
162 - Dec 44
163 - Jan 45
571 - Apr 44
608 - Aug 44
627 - Nov 43
692 - Jan 44

Im all for contiually improving the air aspect. But Im not a fan of the way the game handles the night offensive. Bomber command did not bomb anything specific unless directed to do so. That is Harris's own words. Incendaries contrary to popular belief did not kill in any numbers unless a firestorm occured. The target was simply the City and high explosive followed by incendaries was deemed the most efficent way to destroy that city. Harris worked in acres, square acres and if he destroyed enough square acres defeat would follow. "Krupps was in Essen-was Essen!" Level Essen you level Krupps. Basically between October 44 and March 45 he did just that. In game Bomber command is forced to target specifics hence the popularity of day bombardment which is the antithesis of Harris. By September 44 when Bomber command returned to Germany bombing aids were such that precision targets could be attacked 3 Group and 5 Group specializing in them before that they were rare outside the DDAY railway campaign (which was within oboe range)Peenemünde and the Dams are the only ones spring to mind. "Area" should be a target in game to simulate bomber command's night offensive and the effectiveness of each raid decides how much damage is done to everthing within that area.

PFF is hardcoded and when works correctly provides significant accuracy benefit. There is a chance that they will be introduced as independent groups in the future as part of the EW improvements. The same is true for the intruder missions, which are greatly abstracted as part of the night escorting mechanism.

Ahhh, didn't know that. Thanks Pavel, I look forward to the EW improvements and whatever else may be added in the future.

Awed once again by the detail and thought put into this game.
