In the resource Store pool the first number is the number in storage and the number in brackets is "the total number of resources needed in locations for their economic and storage requirements" . Im getting a truly staggering number in my game of 39,475,000 of resources locations "want". Bit lost on this, tried the manual still a bit lost what does this figure mean?

The trite answer is 'exactly what the manual says'.

The more helpful answer is:
- The resource required by factories for production.
- Cities will look to store resources.  I can't find it in the hardcopy Manual - in WitE it was 1000T /Rail or Port Point.

But is the figure not many times that of actual resource production? It starts the game twice the resources and im at 8.5 times with it now around turn 70.

Back from a night shift. One more try:

Red Lancer,

One more thing: difficulties in understanding the "SBP date adjustment divisor". The Vic-Screen VP figures for allied bombing should (?) give the values following adjustment. If it says 10 bombing VPs and the divisor is say 9, does it mean that in fact I got 10x9=90 points in the first place ? 90 ? A 30 point factory with a 100% damage would give only 3 VPs ! What am I missing ?

Please, can someone help to figure this out ?

To be honest without testing I have no idea.

It all started with a post from carlkey in another thread ( Do you want bombing VPs? Hit Heavy Industry)

quote:

Industrial damage and how it works:

Industrial Bombing VP Gain: These are calculated as a percentage of damaged industry. So the VPs for the above Oil industrial site will be based on 20 (damage) times 20 (size) divided by 1000 or 0.4 Strategic Bombing Points. The only industries that matter in this category are German Manpower, German HI, oil, fuel, and synthetic fuel. No other damage is used in these calculations.

If that's true, than the raw VP figure even for larger targets is pretty small. A 100% damage (damage) times 30-points (size) from a large factory divided by 1000 is 3. And 3 divided by eg 9 (SBP Divisor in 43?) is 0,33 VPs. I can't even imagine what it would require to get 10 bombing VPs !

edit:

carlkey, please where can I find the formula for calculating the basic VP figure BEFORE the SBP divisor comes in. Is it in the manual ?

I'm just bombing Essen and surrounding area (usually pick 3 for area). I bomb the Manpower/HI/Fuel. Quite often my bombs fall and hit the other targets as well, although I don't photo them and it could all be lies lies lies. My P47's can escort which means I have around 700 fighters available. I don't bother changing the AD. And my altitude is over 30k so flak only tickles me.

I am up to about 10 bombing vp's per turn. And there is more to bomb. You can slightly increase the area (or move it south a bit) and include Cologne if the axis fighters are chewed up/scared away.

I won't win the war with this, but it will cancel out a lot of the German vps, and bring my score into a positive number.

I'd be curious to know if I am effecting the national supply dump in Essen with all this incessant bombing.

The VP's for bombing are in the least read section of the Manual entitled 25.1 Campaign Scenario Victory Conditions under the paragraph "Allied Strategic Bombing Points"

Congrats on your bombing VPs, unfortunately that's not my point.

quote:

Allied Strategic Bombing Points
Strategic bombing points (SBPs) are calculated based on damage to German strategic industries and manpower
factories. During each Western Allies Logistics Phase the Allied player will receive Strategic VPs equal to the total
current SBPs divided by a date adjuster. SBPs are equal to the size of the factory type (number factory Points) times damage percentage divided by 1000

If size=30
and damage % =100
then SBP= 30*100/1000 = 3 SBP

Now SBP divided by date adjuster (eg 9) = 3/9 = 0,33 VPs for one large factory with a damage of 100%. 0,33 VPs !

If I am right, then 10 adjusted VPs in early 44 would require to obliterate roughly 30 (!!!) factories of this size (30 fact.points each) in a single turn. What's wrong with my understanding ? Or my maths ?

Balou - the formula of size times percent damage divided by 1000 is from the manual: page 208.

You don't have to do the damage in all one turn, it is the accumulated damage on the factory that is counted as the percent damage. Some factories repair faster than other factories (page 192).

A quick summary of the chart:

Oil, Resource repair at 1% per turn.
Heavy Industry, Synth Fuel, Fuel repair at 2% per turn.
All others repair at 3% per turn EXCEPT
V-Weapons repair at 5% per turn.
Size of factory will also affect repair rate: Size 1-3 repair x 3, size 4-6 repairs x 2.
NOTE: the above is the normal rate of repair. Use of Priority Repair (costs 1 AP per factory) will speed things further depending on the construction unit assigned up to a maximum of 25% repaired per turn.

So accumulating damage on the Oil, HI, Synth Fuel, and Fuel factories will give you the longest pay period for SBPs.

The missing link: already existing damage + current damage, no reset. Thanks
