I have a Nimrod on ASW patrol in a set zone. There are neutral airliners passing through the zone. I normally have ASW patrols with an ROE set to prosecute unIded contacts. But I forgot that the Nimrod carries 4 AIM-9s. It shoots down airliners every time.

Any suggestions on how to get around this. I want to keep the "attack unidentified contacts" on because I am assuming any underwater contact is a bad guy. Any suggestions on getting around this issue?

I don't think you can tell it to attack unidentified underwater targets while ignoring unidentified air targets. It would be nice to have, but the option doesn't exist.

Units on ASW missions will attack subsurface contacts by default without having to set the engage non hostiles.

If this was a surface or air patrol where they didn't you could use an exclusion zone and filter by type.

Yes that's what's going on. To some extent I wish we just named them false contact and left it at that but the comments has been worth the ridicule
