Here is the beta for my most recent scenario. It imagines an American SAG getting involved in a scuffle between China and Taiwan over Pratas Island.

The scenario uses version 416 of the DB3000.

Please let me know what you think. Comments, suggestions, etc. are all welcome. Thank you.

Nice one. Iam surprised that the F-104´s can stay in the air for so long, i thought they were on the short legged side.
Well balanced, first try was a disaster, both the ROCAF and my ships were anihilated, my SM-2 were wasted on a circling target. In my 2nd attempt the ROCAF had the upperhand from begin on and i had control over events, apart from a harpoon attack on a neutral.

yet another outstanding scenario

some scenario metrix from my humble opinion

Scenario Concept - excellent
force mix - excellent
scenario pacing - excellent
briefing - excellent
historical context - good ( would there not be forces in the phillipines to assist USAF/USN)
replayability - good ( its small but personal bias is to small scens.)

comments
1. PLAN planes come in penny packets, no attempt on air superiority
2. im ignorant of PLAN aviation based ASuW in scen time frame, but didnt i get bombed :-)
3. no major consequence of hitting neutral with a recreant Harpoon
4. Its ok to kill whales just ask RADM Woodward (Falklands Fleet commander)

Nice game as usual, small and quick.

Agree with Jorm that the air and naval attacks are a bit piecemeal and relatively easy to defeat, although the missile boats were timed well, my helo was down for refueling and couldn't get positive ID on them which allowed them to fire off their missiles, they didn't last long after that.

Tried to avoid the Greenpeace-ers and save the whales Sank a Romeo but smelled a rat near the islands. Put everyone on weapons hold to investigate, had about 6 active SBs in the water and had a pretty good fix but no ID on the bugger and he was holding steady just below the layer. Pulled the San Fran up behind it (above the layer), matched course & speed - dropped below the layer about 250M behind and blasted active Sonar. PID - no problem flushed the Fox. Dropped to the bottom and raced away at Flank, no harm, no foul but good fun.

The last half of the game was very quiet, playing tag with the Foxtrot to keep me busy but not much else.

Thanks for the feedback.

I left out help from forces in the Philippines because I didn't want to make it too easy for the player. The Worden is a pretty fierce piece of equipment all by herself. I figure they're just busy with some other crisis. Or maybe stuck on the ground because of a hurricane? Or something. :)

You do lose points for hitting a neutral, but not too many...no way to control whether it's the player who does it or someone else, so I've kept the penalty low. I figure that's a good compromise for now.

The penalty for hitting a whale is small, but I figure it represents the "you just wasted a torpedo on a whale?" factor. It looks like the MK46 torpedoes go for about $200,000 apiece. That's a lot less than some of the newer ones but it's still a nice chunk of money.

Good scenario. Major Victory, 480 pts.

Found Soviet Foxtrot and another sub, presumably Chinese Romeo. But I wasn't able to ID/classify it before scenario run out of time..and I didn't dare to attack without that.

I got 390 a minor victory, but didn't get an ID on the Russian sub it turned out I was tracking. Score impacted by me recklessly sinking two neutrals.
Did wonder if that perhaps needed a higher penalty, but that was the only thing that struck me as slightly awry.

Great scenario.
Although I could not operate the ROC units, I´ve found the USN units on my command can designate the approaching Chinese aircraft as hostile from afar, so the ROCAF F-104s can intercept them before they reach the Pratas airbase. I don´t know if this is like cheating but, Could be done considering the origin, heading and speed of the incoming aircraft? (the airbase can´t designate them as hostile until is too late.)
Good work señor.

Saludos
