Mussolini takes note of the world preparing for war, The western alliance has built numerous factories for war material and so has the Soviet Union. Reluctantly Mussolini orders war production started. With an aggressive France and Briton on her borders Italy must prepare to defend herself.

Hitler orders new aircraft as the Soviets and Western alliance seem bent on war.

Japan offers an olive Branch to China.

Gown notes the presence of U-Boats in the English Channel, stopping at ports on the both sides, and showing an inordinate interest in military and naval facilities.

This visit should make the defensive preparations clear. We plan on being a tough nut to crack. Gown reminds all parties that conflict is not inevitable.

Goebbels notes with a sense of amusement the supposed worry Briton has about German Naval craft sailing on the open sea lanes of the world. Meanwhile British war ships are in the same lanes. One must remember who has been beating the drums for war. Not Germany but rather Briton France and America. 2 of the 3 are busy massing on Germany's border
And making threatening comments to the world.

2 of the 3 have suborned the Governments of intermediaries and used those nations to move against Germany's borders.

Mussolini notes with pride the new equipment coming off the factories floors in Italy. If France and Briton want war Italy will be ready.

Talks between Germany, Japan and China Continue.

Afghanistan Allies with China

China has accepted the proposal of the Afghan Minister of National Economy, Abdul Majid, for "the closest internal alignment with China." Majid is known for the stirring words he used in calling for the "liberation of fifteen million Afghans living under the British yoke in India." The Chinese, who also have over 1 million of their brethren under the British yoke in Hong Kong, have pledged the utmost in economic and military cooperation with Afghanistan. A Chinese mission is now in Afghanistan to help modernize the army of Afghanistan, which has officially been given the name of "Afghan National Army of Liberation" (ANAL).

Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Dr. T.V. Soong has flown to Tokyo for what are described as "important consultations."

Goebbels notes the war like maneuvers of the British fleet. Rumania asks to join a greater Germany as she feels threatened by the war drums being beaten by the western alliance. And by the large force of Soviet troops on her eastern border.

An attempt to sway the Bulgarian Government somehow caused an attempted Coup in Yugoslavia. ( ya I wasn't paying attention and clicked the wrong hex LOL)

Italy notes the war mongering by the British in Egypt.

Japan hosts the Chinese Government and inks a treaty with China. Now even the claim of war in the east to justify the war build up by the west is proven false.

Danzig falls to the 3rd Army and Vilnius is cutoff also Bialystok falls to 3rd Army.
Lvov falls to the 7th Army.
Krakow falls to the 1st Army.

Poznan is surrounded and Warsaw is isolated.

In Belgium the French attempt to stop the German advance with massed Anti tank weapons, they fail miserably. Brussels falls to the 5th Army. Netherlands is invested.

Denmark attempts to come to British aid. Germany can not allow passage into the Baltic and so takes Denmark. The 6th Army captures Copenhagen.

Spain joins a peaceful Italy as the World erupts into war. Spain notes that while Germany was not the aggressor she did resort to war.

Japan basks in peace and relaxes for the first time in years.

GOWN wants to make the power of Germany clear to any interested parties so we include this map compiled from intelligence estimates. Poland faces a powerful foe, as does the world.

French forces did not make a dent in the invading Germans, but we caused some losses to them. We lost some brave aircrew and planes in air attacks.

Faithful to its treaty obligations, China has turned Sweden over to Germany in return for receiving Hangchow from Japan.

The British and French commands confirm the end of much Polish Resistance. In Western Europe the citizens of the Duchy are joyful at the liberation of Luxembourg from the Germans. The Panzer division in Amsterdam has been damaged by repeated attacks.

Major air battles over the area of the Maginot line have resulted in casualties for both sides, with French losses being grievous.

Dutch troops fight on but the German forces are very strong.

Here are the losses inflicted during the German initiative. Many reflect losses in Poland.

From the front :

In Poland the troops defending Vilnius continue to resist, and now have a headquarters, the "Liberation Army".
On the Dutch and French front air battles did not go our way and while attrition affected our enemies also we are still not winning the war of numbers. The Dutch troops had to withdraw within French lines as they were about to be crushed.

GOWN's heads are spinning at the diplomatic moves, and all are evaluating the new state of the world with Persia under Japanese control. While the Soviets have legitimate interests in Persia we do too. We will certainly hold off on attacking the Eastern powers, but Axis interest in Persia holds our attention, and we watch developments.

Japan is NOT allied with Germany. She denies she is a member of the "axis". As for the Soviets they just may push her into that camp.

China notes that its arrangement with Japan is that of a mutual non-aggression pact valid until Jan. 1942 and does not require it to come to Japan's aid against the USSR. Therefore China requests a formal cease-fire with the USSR.

Soviet Armies are moving into Persia and Manchuria. The Soviets will not permanently occupy any Chinese or Korean cities liberated but will transfer these cities to the appropriate owners when a opportunity presents itself.

Persia will be occupied temporarily by Soviet forces to be returned to neutrality and independence when its sovereignty is no longer threatened.

Artillery/Infantry were all that was available in Baku, I was not expecting Persia to turn Japanese considering the house rules.
Watch out for the airpower around Vladivostok a lot of Soviet Fighter Pilots going for Ace.

GOWN is sad to announce that Vilnius has fallen.

On the front the French are fighting fiercely in defense of their homes, and counter attacking when they can do so to advantage. Holland is under German domination, but forces across Belgium are still battling. The enemy is taking losses. First line armor and aircraft are being destroyed, on both sides.

At sea patrols of the Portuguese and Royal navies have engaged U-Boats. There were losses on both sides but the balance is in our favor.

On the strategic side GOWN notes the Soviets are active in their campaign in Persia. American sentiment seems to be moving towards a more active stance, but there is still resistance to becomming too engaged.
