.......NEW YORK TIMES.......

America preparing for war, but against whom is the question that is being debated in Washington at this time. Some within the Government are arguing for neutrality and let Europe fight their own war. While voices are being heard for action against Japan due to her aggressive actions against China....

Somewhere in the halls of the Kremlin:

- Komrad Chairman, there has been news: The French and the British have entered an alliance.

- Komrad Foreign Minister, this is to be expected, this is of no concern for us.

- Also, Komrad Chairman, the French seem to have orchestrated a coup in Holland, and it succeeded...

- Not of our concern, that part of Europe is not within our area of influence.

- I see, but Komrad Chairman, the Americans seem to have influenced Finland, and are now its best friend.

The Komrad Chairman began to have a worried look on his face.

- We cannot have that, begin a campaign of lies and deception, brand these americans as not the true friends of the Finnish peeople. Surely they must know that the one true friend Finland has is the Soviet Union. If not they must be made to see it that way.

- Yes, Komrad Chairman, yours is the will of the people. Also I must report that there has been a coup attempt in Rumania...

- What?!

- Yes, Komrad Chairman, the Rumanian Peoples Party, seemed to have gotten the idea that we would want a coup there, and a friendly goverment to our, there.

- We, the people, did order no such thing!

- I know Komrad Chairman, I am just letting you know...

Germany is relieved that earnest negotiations can continue between the Soviet Union and Germany now that the Soviet attempted coup has failed.

Germany launched a bunker buster campaign against the Maginot Line. German forward observers noted puffs of smoke coming from the gun positions. Though it could have been Frenchmen brewing their morning Coffee. Still to late to call of the Luftwaffe.

Japanese report the capture of Hangchow to add to the capture of Tsingtau. IJA meeting only light resistance harder battles foreseen down the road.

Italy despondent the Germans beat them to a DOW on France again.

What happened in Europe today?

- Pro-French forces tried a coup in Poland, and failed.
- Pro-British forces tried a coup in Belgium and failed.
- Luxembourg was liberated by the French

Nothing else to report, according to the Soviet Papers.

Washington has decided to stay Neutral for now and let Europe play by themselves, our nation was founded cause we left that place, why would we want to go back. As for the Pacific, the President has decided that China is in need of a ally and soon, we will be sending lend lease their way as soon as we can. China will not fall on our watch, President Roosevelt is heard to have said. Have the new turn, will play tonight when I get home from work

Washington is now telling Europe to stay out of South and central America, this is our backyard and we will keep any and all europeans out

America is gearing up for war but will not enter into anything too early. Now if the Euro's come barking in my neck of the woods, Uncle Sam will then take care of issues which come

The Great Union of Socialist Soviet Republics announces today that it has achieved an enormous increase in production efficiency. The new five year plans being implemented by the Great Stalin himself will carry the Soviet Union into the next decade.

Soviet diplomats while celebrations of this joyous event takes place whisper into Stalins ear that once again the United States must have increased its standing with Finland... Stalin is mildly curious as to why the Americans are so interested in the Finns.

The Union of Socialist Soviet Republics have declared war! Twice!

Firstly there was the case of the Japanese, who had been having a little too much success against the Chinese... The Chinese representatives, sent from Chairman Mao Zedong, had one clear and univocal message: Help! So as a responsible neighbor the USSR has responded in these, the Chinese hours of need.

Already Japanese forces have been engaged, and driven back. Large areas of land have fallen to Soviet Troops, as they completely surprised Japanese border patrols, that had been caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In other news:
Responding to pleas from Russian citizens in Estonia, and Socialist workers alike, the Soviet Union has begun an operation with these aforementioned, to liberate the country.

Hungary has a new government, one that is much more pro-German.

In the west a turn of almost succeeded the Italians almost took Marseille. Some success against the British coming out of Amsterdam. The British will be pleased to know that they are now trending in the German high commands most recent meetings. Japan again some success no towns taken. Nice to see that the Soviet Union have thrown their hat in the ring so early against the Axis its unusual but I am sure its the correct decision.

Correction: A war against Japan is not a war against the Axis. It is a war only against Japan. If the Germans and Italians had allied with Japan, thus sending a clear message that Japan was not to be trifled with, then it would be another matter.

The Soviet Union is currently at war with France too, as they are the closest friend to Estonia. One might say that the Soviets have chosen NEITHER side.

I am De Facto leader of three nations its not fair but there you are. So its going to be a very difficult for the Germans and Italians to turn down a plea for assistance from Japan. Plus Japan was not allied true but a sure way to force them into a alliance with the Axis is to attack them.

Am I to read into this, that you are playing your nations, as one nation. This is news to me. I am sure the Western Allies would love to know if this is the case too. I mean, that would mean that Japan is at war with them as well, wouldn´t it?

I have not seen any player controlling more than one nation to act in any other way than in the interest of his group of nations as a whole. Its normal I have seen no one role playing every nation he controls separately. Either way I stand by my original statement which I think is a fair assessment Japan cannot possibly defeat the Soviet Union on its own it must look for allies, the only two nations that would offer to help would be Germany and Italy two powers that I control. That's why historically they did in fact form a alliance the unprovoked attack by the Soviet Union based on it seems on a jealousy of Japanese success and the Opportunity for a land grab in Manchuria.

Do what you must :)

I have yet to see a game with Japan pitted against the Soviets. Who knows if they are able to do some damage to the Soviets or not.

Also may I remind you, that while the power of the three of you (Japan, Italy, Germany) combined is formidable, the resulting pushing of the Soviet Union into the Allied corner, creates an Equally formidable alliance of three (USSR, France, Great Britain), maybe four (and China).

Also, this threat of war coming from Germany and Italy is alittle hollow. We share no common land borders. So while you may choose to fight your way through Poland (which incidently might take 2-3 turns), I will see you coming from far away, and by then have an alliance with the aforementioned countries...

But... the choice is yours :)

AMERICA continues its diplomatic offensive in both South America and Finland. Portions of the Government are urging Roosevelt to end Isolation and openly support the Chinese. Roosevelt is heard to have said " that the time is not right yet for American intervention" Though the President has now began discussions on what America's capabilities are for war...

The Soviet-Japanese war in Manchuria is winding down, along with the Japanese-Chinese war in China.

Soviet demands of Japan were simple, stop your war with China, and go to peace. They did exactly that. The Soviet Union honors its agreement with Japan in this matter and goes to peace with Japan as well.

Borders have been redrawn as the recent events have proved that the Soviet soldier is superior to that of other nations. The real heroes of the conflict must be mentioned. The Soviet Union rewards its commanders with the Order of Hero of the Soviet Union. These two commanders are: Oka Gorodovikov and Grigorii Shtern, who both proved their skills on the battlefield.

Also in the Soviet news papers: The Liberation of Estonia. The Hero of this conflict is Boris Shapshnikov who commanded the Soviet forces that went into the Estonian capitol of Talin, without losing a man. The VVS also played its part, as the brave pilots of the Soviet Airforce hit the HQ of the hostile forces in Talin, eliminating it.

Komrad Chairman Stalin has also sent his forces into Poland, which had signed a treaty of affiliation with Great Britain, after a group of officers had preformed a coup. Also the liberation of Latvia has begun, with Riga being the only city that the enemy forces there have left.

American diplomatic offensive continues on schedule. U.S. war industry is now gearing up for production, our 2nd group of P40B fighters are rolling off the production line being sent to front line air groups. U.S. Naval assets are patrolling waters around our maritime borders

Washington is very happy that the Japanese saw fit to make peace with China, but some sources close to Roosevelt are worried about the close ties between China and the Soviet Union. Other groups within the Government are urging Washington to formally draft a non-aggression pact with the Soviets, but for now Roosevelt refuses to even discuss this.

The Military commanders such as George C Marshall and Patton are pushing for an alliance with the Chinese, but that would mean scrapping our neutrality, so for now the Isolantionist Political leaders in Washington have won the day regarding this argument
