Anybody ever thought making A Song of Ice and Fire mod? War of the Five Kings maybe?

Interesting idea here. Not sure if you're old enough to remember an old Avalon Hill game called "Kingmaker". Tons of fun. The mechanics of actions cards in ATG would lend itself to this sort of scenario, although I don't know how you would engineer the intrigue & diplomacy into gameplay...

Indeed I did not exist yet when "Kingmaker" appeared. And that's not even important beacuse in Soviet Union where I was born there was almost no strategic boardgames available (only some easy/primitive games were available).

Anyway I guess the diplomacy and intrigue would depend on human players. Probably such a scenario would loose many of its flavour if played solely against AI. Backstabbing, treachery and all such things should be allowed and encouraged. I guess you should able to bribe minor landlords to change sides. These novels contain huge amount of stuff which could be used as base for many events.

Sounds a lot like Diplomacy by AH, which I really didn't like but some players really really liked.
