Thanks a lot for these guides red, they are great, much respect for putting them together

Even if I consider myself a long-time APOS player, arty is one of the things I can't seem to get to grips with, and the manual is not clear on this at all unfortunately.

Especially one thing I struggle with is figuring out how to adjust fire and how the system of improving time to respond. I've figured that if you've plotted a strike against a target the next time at the same will arrive in shorter time, but how it exactly works is still a bit of a mystery. There must be a use for the "short adjust fire" order but how to use it?

G'day,

Information much appreciated. The manual had me (it appears that I'm not alone in this) really confused on artillery.

Cheers,
Lancer

Hopefully I have figured it out correctly. At least, it seems to work for me as I have described it here. Be on the lookout for differences with the Matrix version.

Red, did you ever get a definition of the numbers under the target buttons ie 8-15 & 8-4.
When you move a target on the map the numbers change and I guess that has some indication of accuracy divergence and time delay but I'm not sure.

Let me play around with that some more. I am sure that the numbers under the HE/Smoke/Illum buttons mean Something x Number of Rounds Available, but I'm not sure what the something is...

Firing your On-map Mortars:

1. Set your mortar platoon up in dead ground or behind woods, houses etc.

2. Place the Platoon Commander within command range but with a good field of view in the expected direction of the enemy.

3. When you spot a target press the G key or click the Fire on Ground command button at the far right of the UI.

4. Put the cursor over the target and click to set a point target or drag to set a linear one.

Your mortars will commence firing almost immediately and will continue firing until ordered to stop or until their ammo runs out.

To end the fire mission, right-click on the Fire on Ground command button.

Hmmm... I was about to say, 'That's easy', but when I went to the game screen to capture a screenie I spotted a problem.

Now, command ranges are part of the Tactical Display options which can be toggled on and off using the button below...

When you have that set to on, what you see on the map is a green circle around every HQ indicating its command range... except for the Mortar Platoon HQ, for some strange reason!

As I usually leave this toggled off and just place the HQ close to the mortars themselves, the system has always worked for me. I would guess that either this HQ is deemed to be using radio and therefore has a huge command range, or there's a bug with the range circle for that HQ unit.
