Now that my wife is recovering, I'm gonna revisit an old standby which is STILL my all-time favorite: SPWaW. Everyone knows who my favorite troops are, so I'm going back to the Pacific yet again. It's the first six months (Aug-Dec 1942) of the long campaign that give me the most trouble, as the USMC hasn't upgraded yet and the Japanese are still on the offensive. Of course I'm using the Enhanced Version of the OOBs and Low Carnage settings, which makes it even more difficult.
If you're not familiar with either one of these, visit http://enhanced.freeforums.org/ to find out.
On a side note, I still find it odd that no one has put together a significant upgrade to this venerable old warhorse, except the gamers themselves. The Enhanced crew has made the OOBs better and you can continue to fight through 1949 if you want. Having been associated with this game from 2003-07, I'm happy that these guys have carried on and made the best version available.
There is no other game I want revisited as much as SPWAW. SPWAW is only one of four games that has NEVER left my hard drive. And it is the only wargame that has never left my computer.
