The manual says that the number of bridges in any scenario is equal to the number of divisions in the scenario. So:

If the scenario has 1 division you get 1 bridge
If the scenario has 2 divisions you get 2 bridges
If the scenario has 3 divisions you get 3 bridges
Etc etc

I have tested this and it is correct.

The bridges are not assigned to specific engineering units. Any engineering unit can build any number of bridges up to the number of bridges available in the scenario.

If a bridge is destroyed you don’t get it back again. It cannot be rebuilt.

Bridge building is not limited to rivers. The 4 different hex sides are:

A bridge can be built over Rivers and Cliffs (no I don’t get it either). Which means you can cross those wadi and escarpments (if designated as Cliffs) and attack from the rear.

To build a bridge, an engineering unit must start a turn adjacent to the appropriate hex side. It is built during the movement phase. Right click on the unit and see the menu pop up.

Say you wish to build a bridge from hex A to hex B. Both hex A and hex B must be outside enemy ZOC.

Happy hunting!
