Are you talking ill of synchronized swimming?

It is interesting that the Arthurian legend has both the 'Sword in the Stone' and the 'farcical aquatic ceremony' for how he got Excalibur.

Not really. In most accounts they are two different swords. The sword pulled from the stone was broken in combat and then he was given Excalibur by the Lady of the Lake

I don't remember anything of the Arthurian Legend (other than what Spamalot taught me) but funnily enough I do remember these Ladies in a Lake.... can't think why.....

The sword in the stone was his father's. Because he was able to pull it out even though he was not a full grown man, every one there knew that he was the King - even though he was a squire.

And I thought that he threw the pieces of the broken sword into the lake, and that the Lady of the Lake gave back the same sword, although now mended.

Different movies interpret the legend differently. You have to go back to ~1150 for the origin of Arthur legends.

Gentlemen can I respectfully request that if you want a mature, sensible, grown up conversation, then you take it to somewhere appropriate. This thread is most definitely not that place

Well I posted three Aussies right before you and that didn't either! Maybe no one else saw the film or simply weren't impressed with seeing Elle Macpherson or Portia de Rossi sans vetements......

Who cares what you think? Go start your own thread.

Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excalibur ) says: Excalibur (/ɛkˈskælɪbər/) is the legendary sword of King Arthur, sometimes also attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain. Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone (the proof of Arthur's lineage) are sometimes said to be the same weapon, but in most versions they are considered separate. Excalibur was associated with the Arthurian legend very early on. In Welsh, it is called Caledfwlch; in Cornish, Calesvol; in Breton, Kaledvoulc'h; and in Latin, Caliburnus.

She'd never get away with this today - Heath and Safety. I mean that is a public bar, what was she thinking? Shoes on the bar, not to mention her derriere. I don't know where that is but I'm not ordering a drink there .

No interest in the pretty face of Portia de Rossi or the beautiful visage of Elle MacPherson? Okay, each to their own. Maybe you should watch the film if you want more .
