I can read the map.

So we're leaving out Basilio's from the game?

This is straying too far from history. To leave out the skirmish at Basilio's PB Plantation is not doing the Battle of Lago Poopo justice.

Huh. I should've known when you wouldn't fix the ammo headstamp issue that it was your way or the highway.

Such a British bias. I don't know if can contribute any more at this juncture.

Warspite, I must retract that statement. You adressed that early on in this process.

As an avid and serious historian myself, I let my emotions get away while discussing Basilio's PB plantation.

My sincerest apologies.

No problem nate25. We all allow our emotions to get the better of us sometimes. I think we all, from time to time, need to sit back, take a deep breath and ensure we are sensitive to the feelings of others; have more empathy for another's plight as it were. It is important not to dwell on the past and rake up feelings that are bound to be still raw.

With the above in mind I promise not to mention again the fact that one of your long distant family members was an incompetent oaf that, through his sheer neglect and abandonment of duty, caused the horrible, lingering, painful death of every man, woman and child at Basilio's. I mean how difficult was it to order 2,000 pairs of Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer basketball trainers? Sheeeesh what a $%^&*^%.

Wrong Etters you've posted about, Warspite.

My people came up from S. Carolina after the War of Northern Agression, having served with distinction in several S. Carolina inf. regts. (That's RL!)

Now, back to the greatest war game ever done. What's next?

A couple of things young nate:

1. What on earth are/is Etters?
2. RL has no place in this thread!
3. What's next? I'm STILL waiting for Alotta Poopo to be written about..... Oh and btw, I do not expect to see the write-up littered with a load of inappropriate pictures showing the Lago Poopo rowers in various states of undress (much)
4. I have taken £400,000 so far in advance orders, and the cash pile is growing every minute I will send you the beta upon completion of Alotta Poopo.

Inappropriate? I used to row on both Lago Poopo and Lake Titicaca. Do you suggest that I am inappropriate?

With all due respect your highness , the image of you rowing along one of those lakes, doesn't hold quite the same appeal as the thought of the Lago Poopo rowers partaking of the same activity

I'm going to research Alotta Poopo this weekend.

Time to get this game back on track.

Glad to hear it nate25. The game is now waaaaaaay behind schedule.

With the story of Alotta Poopo not being written up I could not write anymore code. That left HAL somewhat redundant and, in a fit of pique (whatever that is) he has decided to stop functioning. Despite my - and Mrs W's - best efforts, HAL simply refuses to compute the data fed into him, and is now talking of taking time out to find himself....

Perhaps if he had the story of the Lago Poopo rowers to work on he may agree to get back on line. We'll see.....

Here you can see a couple of the rowers waiting to start the famous row across Alotta Poopo. They had to prepare by exercising in the sand beach of the Lake.

Their valiant row under fire and even enduring the rather personal assaults of their own troups during the ride resulted in the great victory on the far shores of Poopo. Seems that the enemy troops were too distracted and their fire accuraccy failed to bring down a single boat.

Sorry to hear this. Not sure where Parusski picked Hal up, but I've heard a lot of that model that went on deep-space runs were sold as surplus later, and were sometimes erratic (superiority complexes, depression, etc.).

It is already being much discussed, as Ambrose wrote just yesterday "The game is huge, it is beyond the imagination of mere mortals(and game companies). G7YBPW will surpass everything ever attempted in gaming history, or even human history. As the world's foremost person, I predict G7YBPW will sale somewhere between 2 and 3 billion copies, even at the rumored price of $299.99(which is in line with most Matrix Games)."

299.99 US is a bargain, really.

Let's hope Ambrose wasn't riding the wave of a BPB high and reverses himself later, with no recollection of what he wrote.

He's right though; G7YPBW is simply the best game ever.

nate25 please see post 591. The battle goes by different names in different countries. Lago Poopo is, as you know, where the main fighting took place (you will recall Basillos where the entire townsfolk were massacred thanks to the incompetence of your great
great grandad). But the fighting spread further south, as far as the village of Alota (where the Peruvian 4th Mechanised Armoured Corps fought a set-piece rearguard action against the might of the Brazilian Women's Institute who chased the Peruvians all the way back to the southern shore of the lake; hence the Peruvians know
the battle as Alota Poopo.

I believe that depends on who made the ammo, but Warspite will have to say for sure.

I advocated just such a rule also, so let's hope warsh*t1 does the right thing.

Let's please keep this forum on point, which is G7YBPW.

Warspite1 (shakes head and chuckles to himself)

Zorch, Zorch, Zorch . The ammo boxes used by all sides during the G7YPBW were not screwed down. The metal boxes were sealed at the Acme Ammo factory and opened by the troops using giant tin-opener type devices.

But you fail to understand that we need rules(RULES!) concerning what to do if troops are without "giant tin-openers".

Paddington attached a pot-metal prying tool to all 6 sides of their crates.

I wonder why so little of their ammo was used. . .

I have go figured. Er. . Figgered it out.

Paddington was having a dispute with customs at the time. Somehting about an arms embargo.

Much of the ammo sat in warehouses until it was bought by the Italians in WWII.
