There are some issues with the production system that I still have not been able to resolve.

Now I know there will be some nay-sayers who will argue that the production system is not meant to be micro-managed or tweaked - it is there, as it is, to be loved and embraced. Never-the-less, the game provides a good bit of detail on some of the underlying production mechanics and I would at least like to make sense of it.

As an example, I find it distressing whenever I see that my factories are, for unexplicable reasons, short of needed supplies.

I have tried to analyze this as the GE player by being mainly inactive (inside of Poland) for 15 turns and conducting hardly any attacks.
(Maybe three attacks total during the entire 15 turn period)

Consider the following relevant Turn 14 event log entries:

NORMAL REPLACEMENT SUB-SEGMENT

211 tons of ammo delivered to front line units

Scenario production usage: German 100%, Axis Allies 100%, Soviet 100%
 
30500 tons of OIL produced in 96 oil centers

  • Consumed Supples = 24,348 tons
  • Surplus Supplies = 42,542 tons ( 66,900 tons - 24,358 tons )

PRODUCTION (Germany), I show the following for Supplies(Turn 14):

  • Supply Stores - 258,200 ( 96,351 )
  • Supplies In Units - 55,984 ( 60,295 )

PRODUCTION (Germany), I show the following for Supplies(Turn 15):

  • Supply Stores - 262,812 ( 96,362 )

Given that none of my factory producing countries appears to be short of supplies and, in general, it appears that my excess supplies are getting stored instead of used in factory production, I have the following questions:

1. Why are my factories still suffering supply shortages ?
2. Where is all of that 42,542 tons of surplus supply actually going ?
3. Is it possible that one country (i.e. Germany ) is suffering a deficit in supply production that is being countered by an overage in another (i.e. Minor Ally) that is masking the supply deficiency in the EVENT LOG ?

I've posted this concern many months ago when I saw shortage issues with Axis production starting turn #2. I know many other fellow WitE gamers that have had similar concerns. From what I understand stocks of fuel, resources, supplies, oil that you capture in Soviet cities never are brought back to Germany for use.

The initial issue with shortages at the onset of the war is something that should be resolved.

Maybe this will be address in v1.05 beta

Dear Abul,

I understand what you are saying, but this example contains NO captured fuel, resources, supplies or oil captured in Soviet cities. This example is taken from Germany sitting idle at the Polish border for 15 turns. I have withdraw the Russians a couple of hexes from the border as well.

So, all of the figures posted are from non Soviet sources.

Yes, sorry I mixed in another issue/complaint.   Your issue has already been brought to the attention of the devs and testers.  As far as I know nothing has been mentions as how or if it will be addressed.  That's as much as I know.

Supplies are consumed by production, and by units. The 24k number you are referring to is production, so I assume the rest are being consumed by units (both supplies and ammo, which are converted from supplies). What am I missing?

You are missing the part that is questioning why is the production system claiming that there is a supply shortage, when, in fact, there is a supply overage AND a growing stockpile of supplies?

Supply shortage can be at particular place and particular time, while total figures can look good.

There are some events which can trigger it.

- Production increase at particular location
- Increased supply consumption of some unit nearby
- Delay in supply deliveries to particular cities

Usually system should get into balance and such message can be very rare for the onmap locations. They are more expected for the off map and "isolated" location such as Finland, because production items do not travel by sea only by rail.

If you suspect some onmap locations constantly getting not enough supplies, please post a report on tech forum with the save.
