While I was checking out the Matrix info page about the new Panzer Command Ostfront, I stumbled over 2 tutorial videos explaining how to create maps for PCO: The first tutorial shows that google map is being accessed from within their mapmaker utility: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RwGISzsfes The last of the 3 tutorials shows the final result (in 3D, at 13:08 in the video). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgMtwtIB75w Elevation data are taken over directly from google maps.... means the mapmaker imports the Google SRTM height map of the area specified by the user. THAT is the future of mapmaking in wargames. No underlays, no guesswork when using inaccurate WW2 or unit diary maps anymore... If you manage to incorporate this function in the mapmaker tool of ComOps, and enable the mapmaker to process imported google height maps, then you'll have the ultimate mapmaker for the leading operational wargame. Well, unless it's already a secret part of the dev tools.
