What would happen to a ship which is being repaired by an ARD floating dock and then the dock is sunk? Will it be sunk as well? (Actually can an ARD be sunk in port???)
I do not think sinking repairing ship would do any harm to other ships, being repaired by them.
Has anyone ever used or seen PT boats engage enemy subs? I'm asking because in my game the AI has several subs in Osthaven, within easy reach of my PTs in Batavia. Still the latter never engaged the subs. Now I'm going to try a raid by MLs I have in the area ...
The only possibility would be attack on surface, but I do not think surface ships uses torpedoes in that case. SS would have to be badly damaged, or initiate engagement in this case. But it is probably possible only against unescorted merchants.
Do players using the Allied forces use Cruiser/destroyer raider units into Japanese ports?
Your best bet would be catching ships during unloading, but you should avoid any port with CD guns, or mines.
For that matter, does anyone actually send allied subs in Jap ports?
They will probably hit mines (and sink). I keep them in amphibious target hexes constantly, but they get high detection quickly. They attack sometimes, but you will get better results outside of planes detection range. But, of course, you can leave some mines in port, just make sure, there are no local-minesweepers present.
Surface ship will fire torpedoes at subs that have been forced to the surface. I have seen it a time or two in my games. And, oddly enough the Japanese sub no matter how crippled will fire off a salvo of torpedoes when forced to surface.
