Hi,

not sure if this has been discussed, at least I have never seen anyone refer to it. The issue is that if I have a CV TF and want to set the DBs to primary mission nav attack and secondary ground/port/airfield attack, but keep my TBs on nav attack only (i.e. I assign no secondary mission to TBs), my TBs still go in and conduct the same secondary mission as my DBs. Only in separate sqn-sized raids with no escorts that most often turn out quite badly for my side! Is there any way to keep the TBs out of the bombing missions other than adjusting their range to keep them out? Of course then I will lack in nav attack strength if something nasty sneaks up on my invasion TFs...

Cheers,
Mattias

If the TBs are set to Rest for the secondary mission, then they shouldn't fly unless against a TF.

That should be the case right? But this has been a small but annoying thing for me since the dawn of AE (can't remember now if I had the same issue with WITP). They shouldn't but they do. In separate, unescorted 12-plane missions after the main strike has gone in (with escorts). And get beaten up if there are anything left of the CAP over target. I have not changed any setting whatsoever, currently not using any mod, patched to the latest version. The only thing that has ever worked is to reduce the range setting of the TBs...

PMN, did you have the TB squadron's secondary mission set to None or just not have any secondary mission selected?  Michael is suggesting that you make sure None is selected to prevent this.

Sometimes planes just don't do what they are supposed to do. It's a small bug, maybe not worth to bring up.

For example, my fighters are set to sweep (@ 15-25k), but some of them flying airfield attacks anyway (last 3 turns have been like that).

This and the TBs attacking things they are not supposed to happen to me quite often. I chalk it up to excessive testosterone on my pilots.

Boy do I feel silly. I had always assumed that not selecting a secondary mission meant none would be scheduled. Never even thought about having to actively select "no mission". Long since wrote this off as just one of those things. But last turn it resulted in some nasty losses that I don't want to repeat. And it was that simple!

I've said it before but it's worth repeating - what a great forum this is! Entertainment and learning institute rolled up in one...

Thanks guys!
